Vehicle Detail

* 1985 PORSCHE 928 S * Before you and up for bid is my 1985 PORSCHE 928 S Coupe. The 928 S is in very nice condition throughout. The particulars of the 928 S are as follows: * A one family owned 928 S purchased new from CLASSIC Porsche Audi in Tuckahoe, N.Y. Delivery was taken on 07/17/85. Purchased new as a wife's anniversary present, it was lovingly owned & enjoyed until her passing in 2002. Thereafter, it was airplane hangar stored, driven on occasion by her surviving husband, routinely maintained and detailed. As a restaurateur in Tampa Bay, he then immersed himself into the passion of his restaurant. Upon his passing in 2008, the car was then bequeathed to his brother. * A garaged & pampered non-smoker, no pets, PCA member owned vehicle. * Extensive & complete vehicle service history since the day of delivery. I make the following statement for emphasis, the Porsche was purchased & owned by PORSCHE enthusiasts, people that could afford the automobile and its proper maintenance. The warranty and maintenance book is PORSCHE Dealer service stamped through 56,714 miles in 1996. The remainder of the comprehensive service history is fully documented and was performed by a PORSCHE specialty facility here in TAMPA. Maintenance/service receipts for the car during the 30 years of ownership exceed $18K.Inclusive among these records was a full engine out service @90K miles. ($4400) * Only 111K true miles, low for a 30 year automobile * Current CARFAX (in hand) which corroborates the vehicle ownership, and the NO ACCIDENT history. * 100% factory original Guards Red exterior paint, still shines beautifully! * Full Black Leather upholstery (front & rear), still supple and in excellent condition showing little to no wear. An approximate 1" section of piping on the lower driver seat is worn. (see pic) * 8-way power seats, driver & passenger * The dash cover of the 928 cars were made of leather. If left to the effects of the sun, they would shrink, warp, crack and horribly disfigure. The dash on this car is...PERFECT! It is a testament to the care of its conscientious owner. * Considering the entirety of the interior, I would rate the interior a 9 out of 10! It has excellent door panels, rear side panels, headliner, console, sun visors, (front & rear) map shelf, rear cargo area panels and carpeting, NO sun fade. All levers, buttons, knobs, stalks and switches are present. * Leather steering wheel in excellent condition, showing no wear or deterioration. * The seats are all in very good to excellent condition. The split folding rear seats of these cars were a token gesture, and not intended to accommodate much more than a small child, or to cradle a sack of groceries. These were seldom used. For best use, they fold flat to increase the rear cargo area capacity. Both front seats are still very supportive, the drivers seat though utilized more often, was primarily sat upon by a petite woman. * 3-Speed Automatic transmission, shifts smoothly throughout and into reverse (no clunks) * 5.0 liter 32 Valve V8, pulls strong and sounds great, excellent compression, there are NO annoying drips or leaks * ICE COLD AC * ALL electrics are fully operational, power windows, power mirrors, central key power locks, key in ignition/door chimes, vanity lamps, lighter, etc. * ALL safety features, lights, horn, turn signals, brake lights, emergency flashers, wipers, reverse lights, etc. are fully operational * Cruise control, operational * Power Sun Roof, fully operational * Original BLAUPUNKT MONTEREY STEREO, still plays great * ALL original glass, no cracks or chips, Llumar window tint * These cars have an aluminum hood, doors, fenders, these are in excellent condition. These cars are not prone to rust issues. If you come across one that has rust, it must have met a similar fate of the 928 in RISKY BUSINESS. * As mentioned previously, this 928 still wears ALL of its factory paint. I personally hand compounded and hand polished it in two separate stages. The paint came up remarkably, (see pic reflections) you are looking at 30 year old paint! There is only 2 very small dings, one next to the drivers door handle and the other on the left quarter at the same height. * All weather stripping and gaskets are soft and pliable. * Original inflatable spare, jack, lug wrench, locking wheel nut, and full tool kit. The PORSCHE portable auxiliary pump went on a family outing and was not returned to its proper storage provision. A search will hopefully yield favorable results. * In advance of the sale, recent service included ALL fresh fluids, belts, hoses, filters, a brake service, BOSCH wiper blades, new hood and hatch strut cartridges, and a new INTERSTATE battery. * All (4) original factory HUF keys * Period correct BEL Compuheterodyne RADAR Detector, (dealer installed) * Factory 928 S wheels, excellent condition with NO curb rash whatsoever * All 4 tires are KUMHO's, they have approximately 60% of tread wear remaining * The lower chin spoiler has two small scuffs, I may address this prior to the sale, if not, it is an inexpensive repair. ($200) * Original locking gas cap * DASH TOPPER black carpet dash protector, custom sun shade windshield visor (for 928) As previously mentioned, all service records, supplemental operational pamphlets, owners manual & warranty book will be included. At 30 years of age, the 928 S is in remarkable condition, it is very clean. It looks, runs and drives great! It goes precisely where you point it, accelerates briskly to 80 mph and stops assuredly. It is a solid, tight 928, and a rolling testament to the full & comprehensive care that was exercised throughout its ownership. There are numerous 928's available. Unfortunately, there are increasingly fewer good examples remaining. In the case for PORSCHE'S, EXCELLENCE magazine says..."buy the best example that you can afford." "Buy an example that has been driven and most importantly...maintained..as opposed to car that has sat." Whether you had a 928 poster on your wall, or loved them in SCARFACE, Risky Business and Weird Science...928's are iconic cars that still look and drive wonderfully today. These were the GT Touring cars of the '80's, the Autobahn burners. A cocoon to envelope and encapsulate the driver and their lucky passenger, a shape so unprecedented at that time, that it could have been conceived by a engineer studying a drop of MARVEL MYSTERY Oil and then adapting it to design. You are bidding to purchase the 928 S, not to be the first to look at it. Thank you. Please have your funding in place prior to placing your bid. Thank you. Inspections are welcome and will be facilitated to the best of my ability prior to the auction concluding. Please consult with your spouse, therapist, pet or Magic 8-Ball, prior to placing your bid as I am not running a clinic for the confused, thank you. Given the age of the PORSCHE, by bidding you acknowledge and fully understand that the 928 S is being sold in "as is" condition with no expressed, written or otherwise implied warranties. Delivery and/or transportation is the sole responsibility of the buyer. If you choose to fly in and drive home, I will gladly pick you up from the S.W. International Airport in Ft. Myers, Fl. I am fully confident that the PORSCHE could be driven home to anywhere in America. With that said, keep in mind that it is a 30 year old automobile and as such, the pragmatic approach would be to have it shipped. Miles from home in an unfamiliar area is not the place to become acquainted with your new Porsche. Get it home first. Trailered door to door delivery is possible within the lower 48 states for $1000.00 (non-negotiable) I can also recommend a reputable carrier for you, if needed. I have set a reasonable reserve for the 928 S. It is commensurate with the present market, the vehicles condition, mileage, comprehensive care and ownership. Do NOT ask me what the reserve is, as I will not disclose it. Bid what you can afford and are willing to pay for the as described, well preserved example 1985 PORSCHE 928 S that you see before you. * A $1000.00 initial payment is due and payable within 24 hours of auction close VIA PayPal, NO EXCEPTIONS. The balance is then due and payable within 7 days thereafter under condition and arrangement made between myself and the buyer. I prefer a legitimate bank to bank wire transfer as it provides a documented record of the transaction for both parties. I will NOT accept PayPal for the entire purchase, ONLY the initial $1000.00 payment. I will accept cash in person if you are to fly in and drive home provided that you fly in within the requisite 7 days of full payment window. The PORSCHE and its title will not be released until the car has been paid for in full. Upon receipt of full payment, I will overnight VIA FEDEX all documents related to the sale. If you plan to fly in and drive home, I can also hand deliver them to you if that is your preference. * Clear Florida title * If you are "new" to eBay, have 0% feedback, or excessive negative feedback, you will need to call me prior to placing your bid and express your intentions. If you do not call me prior, your bid will be cancelled and you will be blocked from further bidding. These auctions cost money, but more importantly...time.I am a legitimate seller simply seeking a legitimate buyer. Buyers from the U.S., Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, are welcome and encouraged to bid with confidence. I have contacts port contacts in both Long Beach, CA. and Houston, TX., and can put you in contact with the appropriate personnel. eBay provides for only 24 pictures. I have selected pictures that best present a concise overview of the car. If you would like any area specific pictures, simply ask for them. I answer my phone quicker than I reply to e-mail. Call me directly at either of the numbers below with any questions. If you reach voice messaging, leave me a brief message and I will return your call promptly. If you would like to discuss a "buy it now", call me and PRESENT your offer. DO NOT call and ask me, "what's the lowest that you'll take?" Here's your chance at an very well preserved 1985 928 S, one of the classic iconic super cars of the '80's...don't miss out while they are still affordable and do not settle for a marginal example. Thanks for looking and good luck when you bid! Jeff(239)-549-9908(719)-492-1234, c On Jun-01-15 at 07:00:10 PDT, seller added the following information: As there have been a number of similar questions, I will answer them here rather than respond individually to each with the same reply. Yes, the timing belt (a rather lengthy one) and the tensioner(s) system were replaced twice in cars lifetime. Most recently at the 90,726 mile engine out service. This is the service that I previously mentioned. At that time, there was an oil leak, the head gasket was also leaking, all gaskets were replaced, the top end was resealed, another cam belt, water pump, various lines, etc. The car has had 4 cam belts over its life as a matter of preventive maintenance. As a precaution it was suggested in 2003 that a better front flex plate be installed to avert the thrust bearing issues of automatic 928's. Prior to and since doing so, there have been no TB concerns. To those that have politely asked for an engine picture, it is forthcoming. To those that made the suggestion snidely that it "would be helpful", well, so would a hood shot, a hatch shot, a shot of each fender, of each door, each quarter panel, both rockers, a sunroof closed shot, under carriage pics, each wheel, etc., etc., To have included a pic of the engine, which is original to the car and obviously one that exists, as it was referenced a number of times, would have prevented something else that, "would be helpful", from not having been included in the pictorial. You get the picture...pun intended. eBay provides for 24 pics...I wish they offered more, unfortunately...that's it. So, without utilizing a secondary marketing source, 24 serve to provide an accurate representation of the car. Is it an entire representation, of course not. So, to reiterate once more, as stated in the listing, if you desire additional pictures, simply ask for them. Provide an e-mail address other than the eBay question format to forward them to, as I will be forwarding them VIA phone. To those that have taken the time to simply say, "nice 928", thank you for your kind comments.
