Vehicle Detail
This is an all original 1982 Rabbit Convertible in Mars Red with 94,000 original miles. My wife and I have owned it for the past 8 years. We purchased it on Ebay from Kansas from another couple who purchased it from the original owner's wife. I believe we have put about 20,000 fun filled miles on the car during our ownership. The good about this car: All original interior with factory sport seats, even has the original Blaupunkt AM/FM radio Original R12 AC unit still charged and works great Brand new clutch I replaced the original factory one about 1,000 miles ago Brakes done all the way around about 8,000 miles ago, fronts upgraded to GTI style vented rotors Original 1.7 L engine and 5spd FN Tall Gear Ratio Transmission averages about 37 mpg Highway The needs improvement section The top on this car is original and is fine if you are buying the car to use as a fun car on nice days and weekends. however do not consider buying this car if you plan on using it everyday without replacing the top! Otherwise you will be sitting in a soaked seat every time it rains. Unless you plan on garaging this car and only driving on sunny days the top needs replacement, I believe it to be the original and the 33 year old outer skin has shrunk up and leaks when left out in the rain. The paint looks ok from a distance and is fine for a driver, but to be really nice or a showcar it needs a respray The very bottom rear corners of the rear wheel wells are rusting, a common spot on all Rabbits patch panels are available, undoubtedly causing by the leaking top and water getting where it isn't supposed to be. Despite these flaws this is a great car, you can either drive it like it is as long as you keep it out of the rain or garage or cover it. I would really like to sell it to someone who wants to invest in the car and have the top redone and keep it nice. Car is located in Greensboro, NC but I can deliver to PA or NY for trip costs. It is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells locally. Contact me for more information or pictures of the car.
