1999 BMW E36 323i, 2.5L 24V 6cyl ,GM 4L30E Bought the car a few years back with a salvage title from a private BMW mechanic that was fixing the car for a customer when the repair billing overcame the cost of the car due to the GM 4L30E Transmission and overly complicated BMW computer system . Drove the car for about a year until the transmission went again (turned out to be pieces of aluminum in the overdrive pan). I tracked down another low mileage transmission and installed it in the car hoping to solve the problem, to later find out that the onboard computer needs reprogramed by a dealer. The car does run and move under its own power the transmission is just stuck in “limp mode” which was basically 3rd gear. The car has been sitting for over a year with a bad transmission and is taking up space. The car has 133k miles and runs great I let the car run and warm up about once a month engine is very sound. Since the car has been sitting the driver power window motor has gone out and the top needs servicing. Don’t want this car to go to waste, my loss is your gain.
