Vehicle Detail
Last chance to own this super-clean oldie before it goes into our fleet! !983 Ford 4x4 Econoline one-ton van with Wheeled Coach aluminum ambulance body. 4x4 conversion done by 4 Wheel Drive Engineering. This is a southern van shipped to Indiana in December of last year and parked until spring. It is plated as an RV and driven only occasionally. The body has no rust to speak of, except a couple of small areas of surface rust where the mirrors bolt to the door. The interior is very clean with stock, low-back seats. Carpet is in very good condition for the age. The ambulance body is aluminum, with only a small scratch down the passenger side (see pics). There are several exterior compartments with very secure doors and locks (with keys). The compartments are lighted for convenience. Small windows in doors provide good security, and open for ventilation. The rear bumper is aluminum, and the center section folds up to gain closer access to rear door. It would also be a convenient place for a receiver hitch. Rear interior has many lights and compartments. Bench top opens with storage underneath. The rear has 12 volt outlets and 120 volt outlets. There is an on-board battery charger. The vehicle also has an exterior outlet to plug into external 120 volts for charging, etc. There is also an oxygen system, and a suction system. I have not used any of the outlets yet, nor the other systems. Engine is the powerful 460 (7.5L) coupled to a C6 automatic transmission. Transfer case is gear-drive NP205. Solid front axle with lockout hubs. Tires are nearly new 16" load range E all-terrain tread mounted on fairly new steel wheels. This truck has a dual battery system with heavy-duty alternator. Dual fuel tanks (one tank does not read on the fuel gauge). Emergency lights and siren are disconnected. There are flood lights on the sides and back, as well as spot lights in the cab. All the flood lights work, but I haven't figured out how to move the spotlights yet. There is a high-idle switch also. Dual battery charge selector is mounted on the driver's seat pedestal. Separate amp and voltage gauges above drivers visor (see pics). I haven't used the ac in front or rear, but the cab heat is good. The windows roll down like new, transmission selector shifts like new. Truck was recently serviced. Note that it runs a little rich when warming up. My mechanic tried to adjust it but had a hard time due to the governor apparatus. It starts fine but just wanted to point that out. There is also a slight pulsation in the lights at idle. Not sure why but it doesn't bother me; again, just want to point these things out ahead of time. This truck was purchased to travel out west in, but those plans have changed. It is titled as an RV, and I have a copy of the original southern state title with actual mileage on it. It would make an excellent contractors truck, bug-out vehicle, etc. While this truck is plated, insured, and driven from time to time, it is being sold as is, where is. You are welcome to look at it before bidding if that is possible for you. It is a workhorse of a drive-train, and well worth hanging onto for a long time due to the body and frame being in such good shape. We buy older trucks for our fleet, and this is the cleanest one I've seen for the year. A non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of winning bid, with the remainder paid within seven days. Truck is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction early. Shipping is your own responsibility. If you win it, please follow through with purchase. On May-18-15 at 09:54:33 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional note: Replacement lenses for the red emergency lights are available in white, yellow, or green. They can be found and purchased online for about $12 each. On May-20-15 at 05:03:16 PDT, seller added the following information: IMPORTANT: ANY BIDDERS WITH 0 (ZERO) FEEDBACK SCORE (THAT'S THE NUMBER BEHIND YOUR MEMBER NAME) NEED TO CONTACT ME PROMPTLY WHEN BIDDING OR YOUR BID WILL BE CANCELLED. On May-24-15 at 07:48:49 PDT, seller added the following information: One bidder asked about cab AC. The AC compressor is in place on the engine, but there is no belt going to it. I would assume that it needs replaced. To be safe, factor that into your choice to bid or not. Cab heat works fine. The rear heat and AC seems to be plumbed to the engine systems. Please keep in mind folks, this is a 30 year old truck, and not a new vehicle. It is a very solid vehicle, but it is a machine, and machines do requires repairs from time to time. If you want something with a warranty, you could buy a new truck for $50000 plus and relieve your concerns.
