Vehicle Detail

1972 MGB Convertible for sale VIN GHN5UC279242G Well it may not be American, but MG was the sports car America loved first according to the ads. Not the fastest or the best-handling sports cars of all time, the MGB was simple, far better built than most people realize and actually quite reliable (most of the problems with their infamous British electrical systems were caused by tinkerers trying to improve things). MGBs are still common, parts are in better supply than they were when the cars were new, and few things offer more pleasure on a twisty road on a warm summer day. Purchased from the Original Phoenix, Az. owner. Originally Gold with black interior, original engine and 4 spd. with much desired overdrive. The original owner told me he rebuilt the head. Drive train is out of the car and has always been sitting in a enclosed garage for many years. Clear Arizona title in hand. 83,351 original miles. Original owner's local address and phone number available (for more history and general information) for the new buyer. 100% of all Professional work done so far, (per MGB expert, John Catchpole): Floors and right side dog leg were properly replaced with the best high quality Heritage pans. All panels sanded down to metal, with properly applied coats of PPG primer. Hood and front valance still needs bodywork and paint, body needs wet sanded. Paint is a dark Flame Red (PPG, Dodge truck) in a high quality 2-stage base coat/clear coat, 4 coats of base red, with 2 coats of clear. $1,450. in paint and materials, expensive and highest quality PPG and Eastwood products were used in the ongoing restoration. Front bumper needs straightened and chromed, rear bumper fine. This car has NO rust, and all rockers and hidden voids have been treated to prevent future rust. New Heritage rear springs, and higher priced Suplex front springs (the best quality) installed, along with front rebuilt shocks. Rear end inspected and ready for oil. There was slight damage to the front of the hood, front lower valance, and front bumper whentaking the original parts off the car for bodywork and paint. No other damage noticed. Status today: Car was professionally disassembled for paint, and parts stored in my new aluminum storage shed. I have a list of parts, updates, and restoration options available for the new owner. This was going to be my "Dream B", with all the extra options ( beyond the factory) I wanted, but cannot complete because my expert MGB tech (John) passed away before finishing the restoration. For sentimental reasons, it greatly saddens me to sell my B, but I have no experience in auto restorations. I know it will go to a good home. Notice that there are no speaker holes in the rear/trunk panel. There is a speaker hole in the rear quarter inside panels that can be hidden with the interior side trim. I was planning on buying an aluminum radiator and higher capacity oil cooler (the original ones not included with sale). There are some blemishes on the trunk lid, and several other small scratches and blemishes around the body, many from moving the car around. Recently out of the paint shop and presently stored in my garage, along with the original drive train, including $6K worth of NOS and reproduction parts and numerous original parts/spares. As you know, it's less expensive to do most of the restoration work yourself. I didn't have the time or knowledge, so I contracted everything out to a Professional (real) British car technician who had over 40 years experience. Many, many thousands of dollars have been invested. Needs to be put back together and driven. I was told that the rust free and straight body was worth $5K alone. Was recently offered $900. for the overdrive transmission, and $800. for the new (early) SU's. I really don't want to take the time and part it out (and make back more of my money invested). Losing my garage space soon. Must sell. I'll place the opening bid at $100.00This MGB will be available to bid in complete honesty, with no "Schill Bids whatsoever, and will definitely sell! Good Luck! Thank you. I have always had a 100% excellent ebay rating for many years. Willing to store the car in my garage for 7 days until picked up. Sold "As is". Will help buyer choose method of shipping. I reserve the right to sell this car locally. Bill (8zero1) 4three6-4624 Adding insurance to your item won is highly recommended.
