Vehicle Detail

I always wanted a V65 Magna when they came out (we ALLLLL did!!). There is no way I could have afforded a new one back then.....times change! I found this one in NC about 6 months ago when I was searching for a project, and brought it home. It had obviously been in storage for a while, but was complete and in great shape. I wanted it to be a daily (and stock, they are beautiful stock) so I set about making this 30 year old motorcycle trustworthy by : Drained all fluids; fuel, oil, rear drive, and antifreeze, and replaced them with good clean stuff (and obviously a new oil and fuel filter). Flushed both gas tanks (yep, there is a little one under the seat...) did not see any corrosion. I rebuilt the front forks with new seals and wipers and fresh oil (this is actually pretty easy....took about two hours and I went slow) they work great and are in great shape. Everything works; lights, horn, electric fan, helmet lock, etc. There was an anti theft device on these (and that is all I know) which had some sort of cable?? I don't have that.... Comes with two keys, a manual, and an extra oil filter. The front rotors were good, but I found a guy online who grinds motorcycle rotors (v.s. turning...big difference) and they were so beautiful I sent these off to be done, and added new pads when I got the rotors back....gorgeous. The front brake lines were original, and stamped "1985".....pass..(I'm a front braker), they went in the trash and I put on new stainless lines from the master cylinder to the slave cylinders.....perfect! Of course the fluid is new and flushed. Flushed the rear brake fluid. Flushed the clutch fluid (several times....). Replaced the master (brake and clutch) cylinder screws with stainless screws. Replaced the air filter (don't laugh, you have to lift up the darned gas tank to get at it...) New NGK spark plugs. Lubed the speedo cable. New front tire. Rear tire has some life on it, but it is due before long.... Fuel tank and fenders are in great shape, no dings, etc. Front wheel is perfect, the rear wheel looks good but has a bit of chrome bubbling. The turn signal and horn button knobs fell off on the same day...the both work fine, but the knobs are missing. I am looking for them on ebay (will probably just buy the whole left handlebar unit and take the parts....) and if I find them will replace, otherwise sold as is... It has the "six pack" rack and the rear back rest. some of the stitching is coming out of the top of the backrest pad, can just restitch. I think this is the original seat? Not sure about that. The lettering on the gauge cluster is faded, they all work fine, but the lettering is faded.....not sure how to fix that but if if bothers you I'm sure they can be purchased or relettered. It has a small Vetter fairing on it (I took it off for one photo, but I think the bike looks better with it on....). It is a VERY comfortable bike, and, yes, it is as fast as the original ads claimed....It starts immediately, even after sitting a week....kind of creepy, always ready to go I guess!! I have put about 500 miles on it since I bought it (in City and on the roads) and drive it frequently, miles will go up slightly... now, if you'll pardon me, it's a beautiful day in Raleigh, and I'm taking this Magna for a ride! as is, where is, may close auction early if it sells locally, ask if questions or if you want specific photos.
