This is a great and classic hand built design first year produced SL500 on an all new 129 chassis . These cars are now becoming a great buy and like the 107 chassis 560SL's will increase for a nice well kept low mileage one . This is an honest car , that can be driven daily or weekend second car . It has been very well maintained and serviced with full service history/records . It was owned by a Senior driver ( eccentric type DOB is 1/20/1927 ) who thought it was a nice contrast to paint the original top blue to offset the car . I have since purchased an original white top in good condition , replaced the headliner and currently installed it with proper fit . The power top works well . I have the paperwork since his purchase ( 1996 -present ) which shows mileage ( and a 1977 Rolls trade-in ) and selling price . It has original paint/side pin stripe hand painted and is in great shape . No present /prior damage . The interior is in exceptional condition and feels great , leather not worn or aged , no cracks in the dash , and best of all no modifications to original radio . ALL electronics working properly . Has the dual power heated seats with power lumber supports . All power windows , roll bar , mirrors and even the power rear view mirror works . The car has upgraded factory AMG wheels and the original 16" wheels/tires will be included as well . This is a nice driver , runs as smooth as any 500SL I have ever driven . Also the owner installed a rear beeping chime when backing up ( he is in his late 80's ) . There is a small crack in the plastic surround on passenger rear view mirror , not the mirror itself . The convertible top works as it should and appears to be original , or at least it is a factory Mercedes top that has NO tears in either the windows or the canvas itself . In the pictures the top looks like the windows are "foggy" but they are NOT , I just had washed the car i , top also looks dusty from a window protector made of an old cloth material .Car can easily be driven home , I personally have driven it and like it better then my 1998 SL500 . I can tell you that it rides nicer , drives better and feels heavier then mine ( only enhancement 1998 has is a higher horse power motor ) . If you want a classic by design and endurance all for well under 10k , actually this car should honestly sell for in the $7,000+ range ( happy buyer/happy seller ) then treat yourself to a summer of high class driving for less then an old Honda with 100k !
