Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1972 BMW 2002. Burgandy/dark red with a two tone tan interior. Very solid car that runs great. This is absolutely ready to be a daily driver or a weekend cruiser. I used it as a daily driver last summer and have been driving it daily since I took it out of winter storage. This car is currently in Vermont, but I purchased it down in Texas so the car has extremely little rust. Floor boards are solid and the car was not driven in the winter. Recent fluids change. I have driven the car all over New England and I have never had any trouble. It is certainly a head turner and conversation starter, not to mention an extremely fun car to drive; although if you are looking at this auction you already know all that. In previous vehicle sales (several older motorcycles and cars) people often ask why I am selling, in this case I was recently accepted to medical school and will be moving to Boston to begin at the end of the summer. Unfortunately, tuition is over $50,000 a year and I simply cannot justify keeping this car at this time (especially, when I will be paying hefty interest on my student loans). A few more details.... Last summer I installed a RetroSound Model Two stereo system, with new Pioneer speakers. Stereo has two auxiliary inputs, two USB inputs and hands free Bluetooth for your phone calls, but keeps the old school stereo look. Tires have plenty of tread left and all four have the BMW chrome hub caps. Car has really cool glass sunroof, absolutely no leaking and I have driven in pouring rain, and it provides a lot of light. Roof rack included, as well as a brand new $170.00 Bavarian Autosport car cover (cover is unused as I currently store the car in a garage and have an older car cover protecting it from dust). What it needs....after all this is a 43 year old car 1. Replacement of plastic bushings on shifter (the gears shift extremely smooth, but there is a slight rattle on the actually shifter. Common problem that is cheap and easy to fix. I may have this done by end of auction). 2. The odometer has recently stopped working at 1(41,501) miles. I was planning on address the issue this spring but I may not get to it before the sale. If it is fixed I will post an update to the auction. 3. The paint looks really great (I believe it was repainted sometime in the 1990s), but the hood has a few white watermark spots that need to be removed, only noticeable within 5 feet. 4. A new owner to enjoy driving this car. If you have any questions please feel free to email me, I will get back to you as soon as I can. The car is also for sale locally and I have been fielding calls regarding the sale. I reserve the right to end the auction early if the car sells locally. Thanks! Please be aware that for part of this auction I will be traveling due to work and may not have internet connection the entire time. I will respond to questions as soon as I am able to. Thank you. On Apr-23-15 at 09:41:14 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention one of the most important features of this vehicle. It has a single Lynx carburetor setup with a original Made in Italy Weber TIPO 40 DCOE carburetor. Also, I am sorry there are not pictures of the engine bay or underneath, I am out of town for business but I have a friend who should be taking more pictures tonight and will add them to the auction. Thanks On Apr-23-15 at 21:06:35 PDT, seller added the following information: NEW PICTURES ADDED. Sorry about the delay, I just added pictures of the engine bay and the undercarriage. As I have mentioned to the people who have asked me questions, I was called away on business last minute and will have limited internet connection, but I have just added 3 pictures of the engine bay and a picture of the under body. Unfortunately, I am not in town and I can't get the car up on a lift for more picture underneath. But the care has no rust issues and the body is in great shape. If you have any other questions please email me and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks
