Up for sale is an original, one owner 1971 Chevelle SS 454 automatic car. This car is a prime candidate of a total restoration. The body and frame are solid, has a weak spot in the passenger side rear floor pan, but no big holes, the interior is completely, all there right down to the SS emblems on the steering wheel and door panels, however will need a complete reupholstering, carpet and headliner....To give some history on the car, The car belong to a retired police officer who I've known for quite some years and have tried to purchase the car in the past but he would not sell. The gentleman has recently had some serious health issues and decided to let the car go. The 454 was redone about 10 years ago and barely has 100 miles on it since, the car has sat for at least that long. Since I've purchased the car, I've replaced the starter and changed the distributor to HEI with plugs, wires, cap and rotor. The motor is free spinning and the compression in each cylinder was great. I am in the process of setting the timing to actually fire up the car.....I also have the original "A" title for the car. As you will see from the pics, the car is in pretty good shape but will require some tlc, but once completed it will be well worth it. So if you are interested in a piece of American muscle car history for a fairly reasonable amount of cash. Please keep in mind that these cars finished are bringing well north of $30k. God Bless.....On Mar-11-15 at 20:48:50 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE : I've updated the photo's to add the cow tag from my 71 SS.....I'm not sure you can make everything out but these are the best 3 shots I could get......I'm 100% sure this is a true SS......Take note of the cow induction hood, it's an ORIGINAL Chevelle SS, full functional, steel cow induction hood unlike so many aftermarket fiberglass or steel hoods that do not have a functional cow........I could not locate an engine code, however when I purchased the starter, it had to be for a 71 or older 454.......the newer 454 starter motors do not utilize the snub nose style starter motors........On Mar-12-15 at 15:12:32 PDT, seller added the following information: ***************UPDATE*****UPDTAE*****UPDATE***************After setting the timing with the new HEI distributor, cap, rotor, wires and plugs the car fired right up and sounds AWESOME!!!!!!! Of course I ran it on premium gas out of a 5 gallon gas container and changed the oil and filter......I still have to clean the gas from the tank because it's over 10 years old......I also purchased and am replacing the manual fuel pump because it was leaking. So the car does run and sounds great, which is one thing the new owner will not have to worry about.........just as an FYI, if I do not sell the car for my asking price, I will continue working on it myself and the purchase price will increase or I may just complete it myself.........Thanks for looking.
