Vehicle Detail
Well, it's with a heavy heart, but it's time to sell the best car that I've ever owned in 27 years of driving - my 1997 Former Florida Highway Patrol Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. It has been a rust-free Florida car all it's life. Read below. I know that someone who really knows these Police Interceptors will recognize the value of this car. The mileage on the odometer is true and correct at 263,000 but, remember, taxi companies get 300,000-400,000 miles out of these cars. They are built tough and made to last. Also, the Engine and Transmission have recently been replaced This beauty starts right up and has loads of low end torque thanks to the Florida Highway Patrol computer programming. A scan of the engine computer reveals the words "FHP PROGRAM". This is like paying several hundred dollars for a hypertech chip. It adds low end torque and adjusts the shift points of the Heavy Duty transmission for maximum performance. It accelerates like a Mustang GT. Like all Police Interceptors, this car has: HD Suspension, HD cooling system, HD Electrical System, HD Brakes, HD Steel wheels, Aluminum driveshaft, True Dual Exhaust System Other features include: - X5 Axle: This is the 3.27 Limited-Slip Differential that is so desirable in Police Interceptors. - Headlamp "wig-wag" module: It's mounted near the battery in the car, but disconnected. - Custom Stereo System with Alpine 9813 head unit, MB Quart front speakers, Alpine MRP-M1000D Bass Amp, Old-school quality Autotek amps for front and rear speakers, PowerAcoustik 3 farad capacitor, and Orion XTR 12" subwoofer box. Just the stereo equipment alone would sell for over $500 now on ebay if sold separately. The stereo system works beautifully, and sounds very clean and good with any type of music. Looking at the setup of this car, it must have been a Commander's, or other Senior-level officer's car. It was a marked unit with no overhead lights and the extremely rare option of a tan CLOTH REAR SEAT. I have NEVER seen another FHP car for sale with a cloth rear seat. Parts replaced in the last 2 years include: - 4.6L V8 ENGINE: Replaced in Mar 2013 with an engine from an 82,000 mile 1997 Police Interceptor from the Florida city of Moorehaven. So the current engine miles is only around 120,000 now. - POLICE TRANSMISSION: Replaced with an LKQ unit in August 2014. It was inspected for wear before installation and shifts perfectly. Filled with Dextron V. - WAGNER SEVERE-DUTY FRONT BRAKE PADS: Just installed Dec 2014 - NEW RADIATOR. Made in Mexico, not China. Filled with Prestone Green Coolant. - NEW MOTORCRAFT REAR BRAKE PADS - REBUILT FORD ALTERNATOR WITH NEW REGULATOR. Not a cheap auto parts store replacement. - INTAKE MANIFOLD. It now has the updated, durable, one with the aluminum crossover. - NEW FORD FUEL PUMP - NEW SUSPENSION BUSHINGS. This car has so many, I lost count as to how many I've replaced. Almost all of them. - NEW UPPER A/C HOSE. A/C blows very cold. - NEW COMPRESSOR CLUTCH PULLEY - NEW COOLANT TEMP. SENSOR AND COOLANT SENDER GAUGE - NEW MOTORCRAFT UPPER LH OXYGEN SENSOR - NEW PEWTER METALLIC (GM 382E) PAINT on roof, trunk, and part of quarter panels. The black on the rest of the car is only 3 years old. - NEW RH VALVE COVER GASKET Since the new engine, oil changes have been done every 3000 miles with Valvoline High Mileage Semi-Synthetic 10W30 oil and a Purolator Pure-One Oil Filter. The few things that do not work include the heater and rear window regulators. The heater core had a small leak and was smelling out of the A/C vents, so I had it disconnected. People in Florida rarely repair their heater cores since they are not really needed here. The rear regulators also need replacement. I never have the need to put the rear windows down. I use the A/C almost 100% of the time. Also of mention are the high-flow catalytic converters. They do make a code come up on a scan tool because the rear oxygen sensors think something is wrong. It never bothered me, but if it bothers you, you can install "dummy" rear oxygen sensors that will eliminate the code from coming up on the scanner. I defy anyone to find a cleaner, nicer 1997 Police Interceptor for sale anywhere. I am the 2nd owner after the State of Florida and have owned it since February 2003. I have worked in new car dealership parts departments, so i always have had access to discounted factory parts and ASE certified technicians to work on my car. I neglect nothing when it comes to parts for my car. Feel free to call me at 561-901-5937 with any questions. I know this car backwards and forwards, as well as most Police Interceptors, and will answer any questions honestly. I want the next owner to be as happy with this car as I have been. See my perfect Ebay feedback and bid with confidence!!!
