Vehicle Detail

One owner Rubicon, I've owned since June of 2003. I’m reluctant to be selling, but I need more room for Overland trips. I first heard of AEV in 2005. I immediately wanted to put a Hemi in my Jeep. In 2005 I couldn’t afford an engine conversion, but in 2007 I could afford the AEV wheels and 4.5 Rubicon Express long arm kit. My build was an attempt to emulate the Orange AEV TJ Hemi conversion I first saw and read about on the web that was featured in fourwheeler magazine of Sept 2004 (link http://www.fourwheeler.com/features/0411-4wd-2004-jeep-wrangler-tj-hemi ). Finally in 2012, I was able to afford a V8. The only reason I went with a GM LS1 Vortec variant was the close proximity of a recommended/trusted installer to my home. I wasn’t skilled enough to buy and perform the AEV TJ hemi swap myself and couldn’t find a local shop I trusted to do the Hemi. I don’t want to start a debate about GM and MOPAR, but in my opinion almost any professional V8 conversion is incredible. The power makes this Jeep a beast with a personality. - 2003 Rubicon TJ with 141,900 miles (132,000 miles were with old original 4.0L I6 engine and 9,900 miles on the current 5.3L GM Vortec V8)- 5.3L GM Vortec V8 installed by Turnkey Engines in Dec 2012. The engine is a low mile 2004 GM iron block LS1 (LMG is the variant designated with the iron block) The engine swap also required a 1.5 inch body lift installed by Turnkey in Dec 2012. I have a heavy foot, but I average 13mpg in City and 15mpg on the highway. I have gotten 17mpg on the highway, but I had a strong tailwind without the AC on. - Original Jeep TJ 5 speed manual NV3550 transmission complete overhaul in Dec 2012 during engine swap. - 4.5 inch Rubicon Express Long Arm Kit with Tri Link installed by Good to Go Offroad in Jun 2007- AEV Argent Wheels Jun 2007- Almost new (less than 9,000 miles 35inch Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar LT315/75R16 121Q Tires) Dec 2012- New Timken Front Wheel Bearings installed May 2014- New Bilstein 5100 series front and rear shocks installed May 2014- Terra Flex High Steering Linkage Kit installed by Maui Offroad Jan 2012- Slotted and Drilled larger disc brakes with 1.25 inch wheel spacers installed by Maui Offroad Jan 2012. Hight Steering linkage kit required the spacers. - Rear Bumper and Tire Carrier installed by Good to Go Offroad in Jun 2007- 9,000lb Warn XD9000 winch purchased and installed by dealer when purchased new Jun 2003- Lizard Skin Acoustic and Heat insulation sprayed in tub under carpet and under the hood Aug 2009- Extended Rugged Ridge 7 inch Fender Flares- Factory Mopar RB1 Navigation Radio, with factory Ipod connector in glove box. The navigation disc is the most up to date J version. The navigation portion stopped working 6 months ago, but the radio and CD player works great. I have a Jeep RBK1 radio, that I’ll include if you want it. - Factory Speakers replaced by Polk Marine grade speakers and Subwoofer replaced by Kicker subwoofer Oct 2009- Two Sony Xplod Slim Amps XM 1S and XM 4S installed under driver and passenger seats Oct 2009In case you are curious what it would cost if you paid someone to build this jeep today, obviously if you had all the tools and knowledge you could save yourself the labor costs:$12,000 2003 Jeep Rubicon TJ (Current Kbb or Nada is $10,000 - $12,000)$ 5,395 2004 LS1 (LMG is the Iron Block version) GM 5.3L Vortec V8$ 5,820 Swap kit components required to complete GM swap and mate to TJ$ 6,000 Labor to perform engine swap$ 4,408 Rubicon Express 4.5 inch long arm with tri link (included cost of CV rear drive shaft, Tom Woods Front driveshaft and shocks$ 1,500 Labor to install long arm lift, driveshaft and shocks$ 2,250 Larger drilled slotted disc brakes installed with labor included$ 850 Terra Flex High Steer kit installed with labor included$ 1,125 AEV TJ Argent 5 spoke wheels $225 x 4$ 1,420 Goodyear MT/R with Kevlar tires LT315/75R16 x 5 tires ($284 each)$ 1,000 Rear Bumper and Tire Carrier installed with labor included$ 1,200 Warn XD9000 winch installed with labor included $ 700 Lizard Skin Acoustic and Heat insulation sprayed in tub with labor included$ 185 Rugged Ridge 7 inch Fender Flares$ 600 RB1 Navigation Radio$ 350 Jeep Factory IPOD adapter input in glovebox.$ 600 2 Sony Xplode compact amps$45,353 Total costPlease Note: 1. I currently live in California, but I’m in the military and retain my Florida residence. This vehicle is registered in Florida and has not had to pass a California inspection. If you live in a state with vehicle inspections, further inspections and modifications (cost) to register it in your state may be required. 2. I have the clear title in hand. 3. I’ve owned two roof racks during the 10 years I’ve owned the Jeep. The first one was from top five racks (out of business) I sold this rack when I moved to Hawaii. The second one was a smittybilt rack which I recently sold to a friend when I decided to sell the jeep. I recommend both, but I don’t like throwing my gear up on the roof, thus the reason for buying an unlimited Jeep for more room.
