Vehicle Detail
What a wonderful find this is. 1963 Triumph 6T Thunderbird "Bathtub". Originally a RARE purple and original purple paint is still visible in the tank tunnel. First year for unit construction makes this a very important bike for any Brit bike collector. I found this motorcycle (with 3 others) in the original owners garage on display in Ohio. Parked there in 1973 with 17,000 original miles (on title too as actual). I brought it to Indiana and it now has a clean Indiana title to me. Also including the original (NOT REPOP) sale brochure. 100% numbers matching, untouched other than 1 repaint in the late 1960's. Tires (made in England) still hold up nicely with minor weather check Brakes work perfectly! WHAT I'VE DONE: Recently I installed a new battery, boiled out the fuel tank and red coat lined the inside, installed new correct petcocks, rebuilt the carb completely, polished out the covers and gave it a thorough once over. I cleaned the points, got the bike to fire NICELY with bright blue spark. Working headlight, gauge light, Amp gauge, taillight and brake light. Still 6V system. That's even the original seat & cover and it is still soft. Horn beeps too WHAT IT NEEDS TO BE A RIDER: Now then, the bike was completely filled with oil when stored in 1973. The cylinders were full of oil to keep rings from sticking. I have NOT tried to start the bike. It has nice spark and seems to have nice compression (7.5:1 was stock), however the bike needs to be drained of all oil and the sludge trap cleaned before starting. I did drain the transmission and refilled it properly with 90 weight oil. Everything shifts nicely and clutch seems to be engaging but plates may be sticky from storage too. GREAT BIKE to put back on the road!!! I absolutely LOVE the look of this paint job and the patina the bike has. The nacelle bikes are so cool anyway. Call with any other specifics. (812)631-9351 I will do whatever I can to assist in any way with the transaction. Only selling because I have 5 other bikes right now and it is just WAY too much to contend with. Cheers
