Vehicle Detail

First off, this Oval is quite simply too nice for what my intentions are…to make a hopped-up cruiser. I just can’t bring myself to unwind the restoration work that has already been performed it. This is a Numbers Matching Beetle. So here’s the story. I purchased this 57 Type 1 Oval Beetle (factory Semaphores) from the second owner who had owned it for over 25 years. He started a Nut & Bolt Restoration 5 years ago and put it under cover in the back of his shop 3 years ago and never touched it again. The pictures included with the listing are how it sits in my garage. The pan is completely restored to its original form to include all proper hardware, brakes, axle boots, beam, etc, etc and is fully detailed out w/ the period correct Wide-White Pie Crust Firestone Tires. The body was completely rust free with no damage to the aprons, inner fender wells, heater channels, dash, quarters, etc. and finished in PPG Acrylic Urethane Coral Red (L351). This is a Euro Import w/ Semaphores but the prior owner installed provisions for bullet turn signals in the front fenders and the OEM two fold Ragtop was grafted in perfectly. All new rubber seals are installed on all panels utilizing the original side glass and new windshield and the dash is original and uncut. Pope’s Nose, Snowflakes and Bullet Turn Signals are also painted and ready for installation. The bright work is perfect and still has the original Enamel Wolfsburg Hood Badge and a new set of bumper blades/bumperettes/brackets are included as well. The seats have been recovered in White with Coral Piping and the new headliner has been partially installed and includes the section for the ragtop. The steering wheel was restored and an honest NOS horn button sourced to complete the package. I even have the Original Jack, Handle and Lug Wrench. Two Engines are included, the original one in pieces and a used running 1958 36hp. Some extra sets of Tins, which have been blasted and painted, are included along with a host of other engine accessories and extras. Also pictured are many boxes of Oval specific parts that the previous owner accumulated over the years including Two Sets of Semaphores (in pieces), Ice Picks, Pedals, Interior Handles, Headlight Lenses, etc. If it was for an oval…he bought it. In addition there are a few later model bug parts including a syncro swing axle, short shafts, interior bits, etc. I’ve gone through all the parts and here’s what you’ll need to finish her up: · Running Boards · Door Panels · Carpet · Wiper Knob · Hub Caps · VW Hood Empblem · Engine Insulation Blankets/Panels · Terminate Electrics · Fill and Bleed Brakes · Touch up Hood and LH Fender Paint Chips (storage casualty) · Final Color Sand / Polish (not necessary but would make perfect) · Install Headlights, Tail Lights, Semaphores, Popes Nose, Gas Tank, Engine · Finish Installing Headliner As I mentioned earlier, I just can’t bring myself to changing the direction of the restoration on the Beetle. If you’re in the hunt for an Oval then look no further…this one is destined for greatness. Thanks for your interest, Dave 816 – Eight Six Three - 8600
