This is a 1977 Toyota FJ40. I got it recently in a package deal with some other cars and trucks. It looks like it has sat since 2001, according to the license plate tag. The fellow it came from said he was going to go the V8 route. He got as far a taking some stuff off the engine and loosening the front clip. But stopped there. The stock 2F Toyota engine does not turn. He said he used to turn it over from time to time while stored. But some time ago it stopped turning. I got it and dropped Marvel Mystery oil down the holes and let it sit 2 days. Tried to turn by hand. Nothing. Put a cheater bar on and still nothing. Hooked a chain, put it in 4wd and pulled it 10 feet on pavement. Nothing. But neat skid marks, Hooked another truck up behind and pulled it about 5 feet backwards. Something let loose and the tires freed up . Thought we had unstuck the engine until smelling the burnt clutch smell in the air. Clutch let loose off the plate. Engine still stuck. So I am selling it like that. Stuck engine. Which may or may not loosen up. but do not count on that. Either rebuild or go V8. And this is the truck for that. Solid, Arizona original. Someone was pretty proud of this Cruiser in the day. A lot of stuff added to it. Second fuel tank put it when new. Factory PTO front winch. Perlux 200 lights,,a lot of vintage gauges and switches , extra wiring for who knows what. and so on. This is a Non Cat truck. Which is great in these smog test days. The odometer shows a bit over 70,000. This is a factory AC truck. The compressor is missing. Rear factory heater. Don't think the top has ever been off. Missing the bottom left rear seat bottom. . This truck has nice clean rustfree tub corners, rockers,passenger floor, rear floor. A little rust starting in rear right lower door opening. The driver floor has rust and a some thru blow the seat. Looks like water got in there during storage and sat. The rear wheel wells are nice with nice uncut unrusted inner lips around.,This would be a fantastic truck to build. Deal with the stock engine and restore it to stock. Great year. Non Cat truck. Original and rustfree to start with. A lot of good stuff already done. Or go the V* route an build a great Cruier that moves down the road and up the trails. Hard to beat as solid a starting base as this one. Full payment due within 5 days.
