If you want a very nice and rare 5-speed Insight, read on! The Citrus colored Insights were only made in the first model year (2000.) The number produced was very low (estimates of 300 total.) This is a true collector quality car with only 89k original miles. The body is not flawless, but it is nice, as you can see in the photos! Every body panel has the correct VIN tag on it (both front fenders, hood, both doors, both quarter panels, rear hatch, front and back bumper covers.) So no panels have ever been replaced. The car has never been in a major accident, or this would be apparent with replacement panels lacking the correct VIN numbers.. The interior of the car is also very nice. The seats are in good condition considering their age and not worn through. It has the correct size 165/65/14 Bridgestone Potenza tires. The car runs, drives, and shifts very well. It does not leak or burn any fluids at all. The car has a wiring harness for a digital grid charger. For those not in the know, grid charging the pack peaks and equalizes the cells within the pack. This is extremely good for the battery, and prolongs it's life and health. The history of this car shows that it was originally purchased in California, and lived there for the first 7 years of its life. Then it moved east, but also at this time it seems to have been used more infrequently, as most of the miles the car has were accumulated during the first 7 years. I purchased the car from a man near Buffalo, NY, who is one of the recognized Insight experts on the forums as well as here on ebay. He is the one who installed the grid charger as well as a few other switches which help the dedicated hypermile driver extract the maximum efficiency possible from the car. The car will come with 3 keys, two remotes. Both transmission and clutch work great, and I have never had any problem at all with this car during the few short trips I've taken it on. As you can see in the photos, the IMA battery charges fully within a few miles, and if you drive the car conservatively it is easily possible to achieve 70+mpg with it. Accessory-wise, everything works exactly as it should; heater, blower fan, power windows and switches, power locks and switches, turn signals, every bulb inside and out, all the dash including the trip meter, horn, turn signals, stock Honda am/fm/cassette stereo (including the very rare CD changer and 4 speaker option, with great sound). I am a long time Honda product enthusiast. Over the past 25 years I have owned literally dozens of their motorcycles and cars. When I bought this car it was with the intention of keeping it forever. The only reason it is being offered for sale now is because I got married and have a new baby, so this car is very unpractical for a new family (its purely a 1 or 2 seat commuter car) In addition, I restore and collect other vintage Honda cars, and my garage is full of CRX's and my beloved Civic Si, and I do not want the Insight to sit outside during the winter. Therefore, finding a new home for it has become the logical thing to do.. (A/C is not important to me, so I didn't even think of it) You can Clearly see the A/C lines in the photos I've posted showing the engine area. Look just to the left of the orange oil dipstick (right side of the car) and you can see the Freon lines running up on top of the right side motor mount and adjacent to the right side shock tower. 2) Yes, the car does have some scratches in the paint, mostly on the front and rear bumper, and also along the lower rocker panels where it appears to have scraped a curb or something like that. These have been there since I got the car. Since its been in my possession, it has never touched anything. 3) To those of you who are sending me questions and considering to pick up and drive the car to California, or Texas, or Florida, I see no reason why the car would not be reliable to make such a trip. 4) I originally had a reserve of $6900. However, I do not want to see the car sit here for the whole winter, and in the spirit of the season, I have lowered my reserve to well under $6000, which I believe is very reasonable for an Insight of this quality.
