Vehicle Detail
The previous owner bought this cabriolet 7 years ago from a gentleman in our Central PA Region PCA who owned it since 1974! At that time, it had already had its 1961 normal engine rebuilt by Trans Log in York, PA, and a professional bare metal paint restoration, changing its color from Ivory to Summer Yellow, and only required interior and top restoration. Over the next seven years, the p/o enjoyed driving it to various events and shows, and ordered up seat covers, and a carpet kit from Porsche. He later had that installed, and ordered up a new top bow, and top boot in anticipation of having the top redone....However, when the top was down and the German cloth boot installed, it looked like a million bucks! Alas, he continued to drive and enjoy it, and never finished having the new top installed...After all, who drives a 50 year old Porsche in bad weather?
This past spring he traded it to us for a modern Porsche, and we had it checked out by the shop that has been servicing it these past 7 years. They replaced the starter, had the generator rebuilt, installed a new battery and a second starter relay, replaced the front transmission seal, shift bushings, rebuilt front calipers and replaced the pads, flushed and refreshed the brake fluid, adjusted the valves, changed the oil, adjusted the carbs, and did a PA Inspection. It truly runs and drives as a classic 356 should! In fact, I enjoyed driving it so much over summer (1,500 miles), that I did the same thing as the p/o...I drove it with the top down and the boot on! Later I took it off the market, and parked it in the "personal side" of the shop! Thinking I would keep it and have my top guy install the new AI kit over winter....Unfortunately my focus has changed, and I have my eye on something else. I know, I know, its an addiction...So, it is now seriously on the block to be sold this month! This 64 Cabriolet is ready to drive and enjoy… No rust, no mechanical issues, great paint and interior….Just install the Autos International top that’s supplied, or drive it top down, as it has been used the past 5 years! Built with VIN # 159763, and originally finished in Light Ivory, this Cabriolet has been in our Central Pennsylvania Region PCA club from 1974 until 2014! During that time it’s been lovingly cared for, shown and driven on sunny weekends. It has not been "restored", more simply maintained as was necessary over it’s 50 year life. Sometime during its early years it’s motor was replaced by # 601707, which codes to a 1961 series 356 motor. I truly apologize, but the PCA national badge and the 2008 356 East Coast Holiday badge, will go along, if you wish. john
