Vehicle Detail
1951 WILLYS 4X4 WAGON This is a VERY special Jeep. In the late sixties, some surfers drove it on a surfing trip down south and ran out of money. They sold it too an engineer who was working on the Panama Canal. In 1971 Four Wheeler Magazine did a story titled “Jungle Trip” in which this exact Jeep was pictured and included in the issue. Yes...you get an original issue of the magazine with the Jeep with the original decals still on the Jeep. The engineer up graded the Jeep in many ways. He installed a crate 225 Dauntless V6, did an amazing installation of a PTO winch, installed Air Conditioning, re-geared the Jeep for higher speeds, reengineered the vacuum wipers too electric...and more. The AC is missing some parts. But the under dash unit that runs from one side to the other is included. It also has rare Willys marked glass fog lights...and they work! I tried to buy the Jeep for over seven years, then it got sold to someone else. Years later I found the Jeep again and worked a deal to buy it. I have rebuilt the carburetor, new exhaust, added a new fuel pump, blowout the lines and dropped and cleaned the fuel tank. The Jeep runs very very well. The jeep has a three speed transmission, twin-stick transfer case and twin-stick PTO. One lever operates the winch, the other a rear facing PTO for a rare Belt Pulley which comes with the Jeep. I have a towing class three receiver that comes with the Jeep and skid plates that cover the fuel tank. The heat works very well. The horn, wipers and lights work. Some gauges work, some need work. The original seats are all there. The front could use re-covering, the back are nice. The Jeep looks nice...everybody loves it! The clear coat on the hood is peeling and there is some typical rust issues around the rear upper corners around the drip rails. But this Jeep is NO rust bucket. The vintage U-HAUL box is not part of this auction. However...if you like it...we might be able to work something out. Please write or call Houston Wills at 210-548-1310 if you have any questions. The Jeep is located in San Antonio Texas and comes with a clear Texas title. Many thanks for your interest.
