I'm the 2nd owner of this Honda Insight and have owned it since 11/2008 at 42k miles. It runs excellent and has a current NYS inspection sticker that is good until March 2015. This was my business vehicle that I routinely drove 500 - 700 miles per week. This Honda was driven year-round and I typically averaged 60+ mpg in the warmer months and 54+ mpg during the colder months. This vehicle drives great in the wet and snowy weather. This Insight is equipped with the recommended Bridgestone Potenza high rolling all season radial tires (required to achieve the best mpg). The following are the many reasons that still make this an awesome vehicle:• The engine starts and runs excellent. I have always serviced the engine using premium gas and the required premium oil: Mobile 1: 0w20 with a premium Mobile 1 oil filter. Honda recommends changing the oil every 7500 miles, but I always changed the oil and filter every 5000 miles.• The new owner will recieve the complete vehicle service history.• If the reserve is met, the new owner will also receive "4 BARELY USED SNOW TIRES". That look new and are worth $500.00.• Everything on the vehicle works as it was when the vehicle was new. The interior and exterior have minor wear that is typical of an older vehicle, but most people that see this vehicle can't believe it is a 2001. Most think it is newer based on it's condition. The body is in above average condition and has "NO RUST". Bid confidently, as I would have no problem driving this vehicle cross country, as should the buyer.• 3 months ago, Dick Ide Honda, the local Honda dealer replaced the drivers seat belt...for Free!!! Under Honda's national safety warranty. I have also heard that if the IMA battery becomes defective, Honda will also warranty it ... So bid with confidence! Thankfully, I have had no problems. The IMA battery charges as the vehicle is being driven and like it did when new.• The brakes are smooth and work as the were designed.• This clutch is firm and smooth as it should be without any concerns.• This vehicle has never been smoked in and smells clean. I recently detailed the interior. I believe in being honest when selling a vehicle. The following are the minor issues the vehicle has:• The paint is in above average condition, but there are a few noticeable minor scuffs and scratches on the right rear (see the photo). Additionally, there are minor stone chips on the hood's front edge (typical of a vehicle of this age).• The transmission shifts effortlessly in every gear, with the exception of downshifting into 2nd gear. About 10k miles ago, I noticed a difference in downshifting into 2nd gear. I took it to the local Honda dealer who told me that Honda was aware of a typical syncro mesh problem with 2nd gear in the 1st generation Honda Insights with a manual transmission. They also told me of a inexpensive solution: rev the motor when downshifting into 2nd gear and this meshes the gear. I've driven the car this way for the last 10k miles without a problem, but it is a concern worth mentioning. • There are a few small wear holes in the drivers floor carpet, but are not noticeable when the floor mat are in place.
