Vehicle Detail

I have a non-restored 1969 Jeep CJ5 with only 6,494 miles. NOT 64k. I am the second owner, bought many years ago from original owner who only used it to occasionally in Utah. Jeep still has the original 5 Goodyear Suburbanite tires on it, although they are weather cracked but hold air (tube tire) and I drive on them.. The rear deck on CJ5's is normally beat, dented, rusted, etc but this rear deck is perfect. Never used for hauling, hunting, off road or a daily driver. This Jeep was owned by the local newspaper in Salt Lake City to run errands and push snow off the parking lot in the winter. It was then washed down and then returned to the garage. This happened over and over again for 30+ years . You will not find a more original 1969 CJ5, everything is stock and untouched. The floors in this Jeep are in great condition. Stock Jeep Features: Dauntless V6, T14 full sync transmission, and D20 transfer case. Low gear ratio - 5.28 or 4.11 I believe OEM Meyers steel hard top / doors. No damage to glass, doors and windows work fine. I do not have the original key for the top Here is a list of what I have done since I pulled it out of storage in the past 30 days:. *Just rebuilt stock GM carb last week, was leaking, runs great. *new brake lines, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and hardware. *oil change, filter, tune up, *take apart all shift linkage, sand, clean, lubricate and reinstall *pulled gas tank, cleaned, flushed fuel line, added new gas and it fired right up. *disassembled shift linkage for transfer case, cleaned, lubricated, re-assembled and its shifts great. This CJ is drivable right now except it should have new tires. However if you want to restore or build it into a trail rig, it will need some minor work to be 100%. Here is a list of what I know needs attention. *Surface rust on frame and hat channel and most metal parts under the Jeep - BUT its surface. One hat channel (thin gage metal) has a 1/4" rust thru, easy fix for a Jeep guy *the oil temp and gas gauge do not work. Probably sending units. *Its going to need new tires - they are the OEM and are 45 years old. *Original Myers steel top is complete and does not leak. Surface rust on top, but very usable. Worst part of top is where the hinges screw to the cab. The late 60's Jeeps are known to be the best years of the CJ5's because of the V6 and T14 trans. This is a great project Jeep for the restorer or to build a trail jeep.
