Vehicle Detail
A 1971 Karmann Ghia Convertible. Has been in dry storage since 2008. It was a California car up to around the year 2005. Now in Washington State with a Washington State Title. It was a driver until 2008 when the owner died and his family did nothing to his estate until 2014. I'm going to tell you all the things that are wrong with the car first, so you can get some idea what you are bidding on. A Karmann Ghia in this shape is hard to find. Usually they are in mint shape, or they are a rust bucket. There are two dents in the car. One on the drivers fender, that wrecked the turn signal. The other is the nose, which has a thin layer of bondo on it. (repaint area) Both places have no rust, and could be fixed without any rust repair. Their was very little rust at the battery area, but a metal plate was installed where the battery sits. The floor (pan) on the pass. side has some holes in it. (see pictures). There is no rust in or on the doors and no rust at or around bottom edge all the way around. No rust above headlights, and no rust in engine lid. I have had the car started only by pulling it. There is a electrical problem that I can not figure out. I have had the started off and checked it, and it works. It runs good, but will not stay running at low speed. The carb is not working right, due to sitting with old gas in it for 6 years. There is no battery with the car. The doors fit great, but the handles need work. The top bows are there and back glass. The bumpers are complete, but have some pitting. The dash is not cracked from the sun and no one cut any holes in the dash. The brakes work find and it shifts into all gears. The tires are old, but the aluminum wheels are good and would need to be polished. It would be a great car to restore. If you have any other questions, please e-mail us. Thanks. Ed.
