Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1951 Ford F1 pickup I bought in east central Texas only last winter. I was told that it would run and it did after the following was done. Had the starter rebuilt, removed the gas tank and cleaned it, electrical tune up, installed an electric fuel pump and rebuilt the carburetor and a new battery. Actually it runs pretty good with no knocks or smoke. That's as far as I got. I was also told it had a bad clutch and after getting it running I can verify that it does. It will move but barely. The water pump is noisy and needs rebuilt or replaced. The coolant was good and the radiator does not leak. Transmission shifts into all gears, three speed on column, driveline seems good and the brakes hold the truck and have good pedal. I guess it came with a flathead 6 since there is no V on the hood, but the engine was replaced at some point with a 292 2 barrel. It has a very heavy duty well made headache rack with places on each side for spare tires, so the truck was worked. Also heavy pipe for the rear bumper and a sheet of substantial steel for the bed over the old wood. Body wise, it has some rust on the lower front fenders and the right one is cracked and dented as can be seen - it might be patched up, just depends on your plans. A few other areas of minor rust but the floors are solid except there has been a firewall patch put in under the battery where some acid got to it over time. Top of cab has a dent on drivers side. All the glass is in it although the windshield, one side glass and one vent glass have cracks. The windows roll up and down. The metal panels for the doors are missing. The pictures should give you an idea of the old truck, but send questions for anything else or you can call and talk. Ron at 409-313-3029. Clear Texas title in my name. For shipping the truck should be considered non-op due to the clutch. I might could deliver it for a fee if not too far. Thanks for looking. On Sep-30-14 at 19:24:01 PDT, seller added the following information: A couple of things to add to description : The truck is now 12V negative ground and I do not have the hood trim pieces.
