This car is an original Van Nuys California assembled one owner car. The original owner lives in Pasadena, CA and purchased this El Camino new at La Puente Chevrolet in late 1971. All the body panels and sheet metal are in fair shape for its age. Has minor rust but nothing major. The original owner's manual and Protect-o-plate are intact. Please see photos below. All the panels are original Chevrolet sheetmetal. This car has no major accidents and has been painted once in the original color about 20 years ago. All the glass including the side windows and windshield are OEM GM glass. The car is unrestored and retains its original blue California plates and original specifications. The vehicle has 116,977 original miles on the frame and about 6,000 miles on the GM Goodwrench 350 crate engine. Factory Options: Chevrolet L48 175 HP Small Block 350 Factory 4 Barrel engine (5th digit coded J in the VIN) - the original owner replaced the engine with a new GM GoodWrench 350 crate engine about 10 years ago. It has about 6,000 miles on it. All the original accessories such as the carburetor, smog equipment etc. are intact with the replacement engine. 3 speed Automatic Transmission (shifts fine through all gears, no slipping) Power steering Power disc brakes Custom Package (second digit code D in the VIN) Seatbelts Factory AM-FM Radio Original A/C Car (System needs to recharged with freon, all components are intact and hooked up) Rally Wheels All the instrument gauges work. Horsepower ranged from 165 through 270. There were very few aesthetic changes, the most visible being the removal of the Chevrolet bowtie from the grill and new turn signals. This was also the final year for the third generation El Camino with 1973 began the fourth generation. The El Camino was restyled, again following the changes done to the Chevelle. The styling updates continued mostly unchanged until 1978. 36,042 El Camino Custom V8 were produced out of 57,147 total El Caminos built in 1972.
