Vehicle Detail
1972 1/2 ton Suburban Ambulance. This is an unrestored original ambulance. Not many of these babies left! I will start with the body, in good condition for a 42 year old vehicle. It does have rust in front of and behind the rear wheel openings. ( I have the patch panels that go with the vehicle to fix) The only other rust through areas I have found are a brace on each side under the floor about where your feet would be. (replacements included) The rest of the body in good shape minor dents and dings around the body with some minor hail dents to the left quarter panel. It has a fiberglass raised roof that is showing some cracking where it was bonded to the roof. The paint is oxidized and the truck needs a repaint. All of the glass is in good condition. Interior: Front seat is in good condition with no rips or tears some staining to the cloth inserts, dash has some distortion and the rubber floor mats are in ok but not perfect condition. Steering wheel has the normal cracks you find in this vintage of truck. Door panels in good shape just need cleaning up. In the back all of the original cabinets and floor are still in place and in good condition. It has a couple of places that theOn Oct-23-14 at 21:08:35 PDT, seller added the following information: Engine and drivetrain: This is an original big block truck, the engine that is in it now is NOT the original engine or transmission. The vehicle runs and drives the engine smokes and uses oil and has a miss that is most noticed at idle. No issues with the TH 400 transmission. I just returned from a 130 mile trip with no reliability issues. A few things that have been done to the vehicle since I bought it 2 years ago, fuel tank cleaned and sealed, new fuel sending unit. New dual exhaust from engine to tailpipes, carburetor overhauled, wheel bearings packed, carrier bearing, pinion seal replaced. New internal regulated alternator.
