Vehicle Detail

2010 Dodge Challenger R/T 2 Door Hardtop in HEMI Orange, Dark Slate Gray InteriorDaily Driven, all Highway miles. 6 Speed Manual Transmission with a Pistol Grip shifter... loud, in your face American muscle in that awesome HEMI Orange color. I've had 77,000 wonderful miles in this car, I drove it everywhere I could, whenever I could. I've been to almost 100 car shows, won a lot of trophies, driven on several multi-state, multi-day charity rallies for great causes (boys and girls club, jimmy fund, wounded warriors). I've been on TV, shown in a magazine, made lots of friends and learned a side of myself that I hadn't realized before. NON SMOKER - I have never, or had anyone else smoke in my car. What this car will do:Give you all the power, sound and control of a muscle car. Dodge really hit it off the block with this one. The Challenger truly is the best of the "old school" resto-modern remakes. I was impartial to all of them until I took them all on a test drive. The Camaro was too small for me, the Mustang was too high-schooly (if that's a word) with a plastic-y interior. The Challenger had the perfect mix of power, sound and the ability to cruise comfortably. I love the seats and the design of this car. The car will do 0-100 in no time at all. It's amazing how quick this car can get when you put it in 3rd and push the pedal to the floor. Even in 4th. If you want to conserve gas a bit, 5th and 6th are both overdrive gears for cruising. We took the car down to Myrtle Beach on a road trip and it was like you were sitting on your own couch the entire way. It turns heads. Even years after its release, the color on this car is amazing in all kinds of light. The first time you see the car as the sun starts to come up or down you'll experience the robust color and beautiful highlights. The dark interior just makes this car complete. I've never tinted the windows because you don't need to. It has heritage. If you buy the car, take it to a car show. Look for local car shows or look for a Mopar/Chrysler/Dodge show and join their club. You'll meet people and share stories, make friends and learn a whole lot about its history and prestige. While this is not a tangible function of the car, it is n undeniable truth about the ownership pride and history on this proud car model. What this car will not do:Make Cookies, Fly or do your taxes. Sorry :( What this car should not do:Don't go driving in the snow or ice. While the car DOES come with snow tires and wheels ready to go, it's due to necessity. I've been caught in the snow with the car before, when it snowed at work on me.Even though it's not the best for snow and icy roads, it does come with the following:1) Traction Control - the car has the option to toggle it off partially if needed2) Brake Assist and Stability Control, including hill assist - the car's computer can help correct you in a slip or if you start to roll on a hill3) Anti-Lock 4-wheel disk brakes, with really good calipers. These are heavy duty brakes. But hey, if you have power and speed in a car, you have to be able to stop too.*Don't attempt to re-create the Dukes of Hazard hay-bale jump scene. Customizations:The first thing I did was change the OEM gear shift for a HURST/Gunslinger model. This is a pistol-grip, 70's style shifter that fits the hand better, allows for quick shifting and looks awesome. I've received more inquiries on the shift handle than I have on the rest of the car. It ties the entire interior together to a focal point: The interface between man and machine.I upgraded the Exhaust: The OEM Exhaust was replaced in the first 900 miles for a throaty, old-school style sound from SLP called the Loudmouth. The Loudmouth 1 at full throttle (highway) is 110 dB behind the vehicle, about 10 feet. I can't tell you how many people have complimented the sound on this car. It just goes together like apple pie and ice cream. The OEM Air Intake was upgraded to the SLP Blackwing Cold Air Intake. This improved throttle response and gave the motor a unique tonal quality.I had QTP Electronic cutouts professionally installed on the headers, on the 90 degree bends after the collectors. These can be toggled inside the car effortlessly with a discrete switch under the radio. 5 seconds open, 5 seconds closed. The sound is amazingly loud. 121 dB to be exact. Open these when cruising and the car sounds straight out of 1970, like a fully prepped drag car ready to pounce. Turn heads and put a massive grin on your face. The race shop used only premium welding materials, so it won't rust out. I have close-off plates if you don't want this feature.NOTE: BE SURE TO LET ANY GARRAGE KNOW YOU HAVE THEM, especially if they are driving the car on a lift, as it could catch on their ramps. Have the guy check clearance or back the car on the lifts.Engine dress-up: I had custom valve covers painted and installed, as well as a firewall cover, black braided hoses and a black oil catch can.Sequential Tail Lights: Just a nifty touch on the back bar lights... turn signals strobe in sequence, hazards strobe from the inside out, and pressing the brake lights the center light first, then strobes outwards.Tuned for 93 octane: I have the Diablosport tuner I used to customize the tune for the car, this gave me better gas mileage, faster response, better performance and let me tune the car to 93 octane. I can remove this if needed, or you can keep it and customize it yourself. From the factory, the car was able to use 87, 89, 91 or 93 octane, but the lower octanes would get poor gas mileage. Tuning it to 93 gave the best performance and gas mileage. For me, it was an easy choice. This did not violate any warranty, I checked with Chrysler first.Staggered wheel setup: The car came with 20x8" wheels with 245/45r20 tires. I changed this to a more classic muscle car look, using a staggered setup (245/45r20 fronts with 275/40r20 rears for better grip and handling, 20x8.5" front wheels, 20x10" rears) Disclosure:I'll be completely honest with you, this is the first car I've ever owned that I can honestly say I have had no issues with. No complaints. No breakdowns, no failures.Wheels & Tires:The car will need new tires next year. The road spray they put down in CT clouded up the wheels a bit, and they should be refinished at some point. It's not too terribly expensive to get wheels refinished, they have simply aged.Rear tires are 275/40r20, front tires are 245/45r20 in a staggered setup.Rear wheels are 20x10 American Racing Torq Thrust-M Anthracite w/TPMS SensorsFront wheels are 20x8.5 American Racing Torq Thrust-M Anthracite w/TPMS SensorsInterior:There's a small scratch on the passenger door arm rest. It's not a puncture but as the leather is black, it is slightly noticeable. The Nav/Radio works perfectly, however the anti-glare coating has begun to wear off. I imagine you can call Dodge or the folks who created the MyGig RER nav radio and get a new piece of plastic with the coating to put in again. Not noticeable at night, only if the sun is shining on it.Exterior:The car was daily driven, between Guilford and Farmington, CT. It was not a track or race car, it was my daily driver to work. As such, the car has some signs of being a DD. There are some minor scratches in the paint and a few dings here and there, nothing major. The driver's door does have a scratch bigger than the rest from someone pushing something up against it in a parking lot. It's about 3" long and on the lower half of the door. This didn't dent the car or anything, but it's there, and I never did find out what caused it. There is a paint chip missing from the extreme lower center of the front bumper. You can't notice it unless you were sitting in front of the front of the car and looking for it.Engine:I took the car every 5000 to have the oil changed religiously. In fact the guys at the shop are going to be sad when this sells; they always looked forward to servicing the car. I used only Mobile 1 Synthetic and the Mobile 1 oil filter since the first oil change. I have never had any issues with oil or any other engine systems.
