Vehicle Detail
Here is a chance someone to own an extremely rare and famous REAL Classic car. This car is a factory handmade 1940 Lincoln Zephyr Continental Convertible. I am sure any Ford expert would tell you how RARE these cars are. They only made 350 of the 1940 Lincoln Zephyr Continental cars and 45 of them were convertibles. They were all modeled after the infamous Edsel Fords' Lincoln. This 1940 Lincoln convertible just reeks TOP CLASS and belongs in a car collection to be admired. (This car really belongs in a car collection like Jay Lenos' or a collection that its "class" is going considerable upgrade it. It definitely would upgrade any collection !) I restore antique cars, but am a driver- restorer. My cars in my collection are driven and maybe shown once in a while. This Lincoln is too valuable and rare for my taste and restoration. Yes, the car needs restoration but is remarkable condition for it's age. What is for sale is the combination of two Lincoln convertibles (one a bit more rusty than the other). Most of the parts of sheet metal on the car that have rust have been reproduced. There is a new dash (NOS I understand), two sets of top irons, three steering columns and steering wheels (don't know where the extra one came from), complete interior (if not then there is at least 97% there), the Columbia rear end, four doors, fenders that are practically rust free and two practically rust free hoods, and the bumpers. This is naming just a few of the ton of interior parts and exterior parts that are included. In other words, at least two of just about everything. Or about four of the things you would need two of! I want to sell the Lincoln, but I'm not going to give it away and to be perfectly honest about Lorane (the name my family gave to the Lincoln) the car is a restores dream. It will be fairly easy to restore (been there and done that), but it will not be able to done on a shoestring. A car of this quality and fame will require the top of line no matter what has to be done. But it will well worth the investment ! This year Lincoln is extremely rare and valuable ! Don't insult me with low ballers, please. I know what the car is worth. Now, before I get a bunch of Ford people calling me about Lorane's history I want everyone to know that what I know about Lorane, is what I've been told and I have not done a bunch of research on her. Any questions call me at 815-351-6655. Due to the number of phone calls I have had, I had better answer some questions. There is only one V12 and transmission and air cleaner. As far as I know, there is 3 sets of grills (but I think that one set is a 1941). There is only one main body and frame but I believe there is another front and rear end. I'm not going to list all of the parts, but I have made every effort to describe and be honest about what is there. The new owner wont be disappointed. Now it's time to C.M.A. Lorane is sold as is, and where is. Shipment is the responsibility of the new owner. I can help and lift a box or two but the main part has to be arranged by the new owners (Oh, by the way, I can be hired to restore Lorane but I am not cheap.....I only look like it. It can be arranged to fit her into my too many projects.) The deposit is non refundable and Lorane is to be moved within 10 days of the end of the auction unless other arrangements are made. There is no return. Once Lorane is gone she's gone! She's not coming back. And I am very sorry, but as far as I know Lorane has no secret life. As far as I know, neither Elvis, nor Roosevelt, nor Bettie Davis, nor Rhett (Butler) and Scarlet (O'Hara) ever rode in, pointed at, nor talked about Lorane. Her original owner did not sail on the R.M.S.Titanic either. But, if she has a secret past ,I know nothing about it. Only Lorane knows and she's not telling, so far. Lorane is for sale locally, so if she is sold, she and this auction disappear into the night very silently. Oh yes, if there happens to be a non-paying winner,............WELL, I will turn their name over to my GOOD friend Vito Corleone. So all bidders keep that in mind. And please don't call and ask what my reserve is.........'cause I ain't tellin'. The reserve was decided on by a bunch if Ford fanatics, I mean, Ford owners after much discussion considering the car, Loranes' condition, her rarity, and value of her parts. They thought it was a fair reserve and so do I. I am wanting to sell my 1940 Lincoln Zephyr Continental Convertible, but I don't have to. I would like more space in my over projected shop. Too many project is the cause and the name of the game ( I know I'm not the only one with that problem !). I'm not lookin' to retire from this car "just a bit of the bubbly for me wife, and a frosted mug for me self and a good turn around the dance floor. That's all I ask." I hope that everyone knows that the first picture is of a 1940 Lincoln AS WHAT LORANE CAN AND WILL LOOK LIKE ! Be aware that Lorane is in pieces and needs to be assembled. On Sep-19-14 at 14:35:26 PDT, seller added the following information: I've been told that this must be added. Lorane come with a bill of sale only.Folks, nobody likes to read negative writing, so I will try to keep this as positive as I can. I have, to the best of my ability, been honest and sincere about this auction. We had a little fun with this description, too. I don't think I'm being unreasonable in expecting the same in return. So if you are not interested in Lorane or don't intend to buy her and are not responsible PLEASE don't enter a bid. A bid was entered the last time Lorane was listed and it ran for 8 days with the bidder visiting this site several times and then the last day retracting the bid using the "entered the wrong amount" reason. After 8 days and several visits, discovering the wrong amount? Ebay says that it was a illegal retraction by eBay's rules. So please if your not interested don't bid. Thanks. On Oct-12-14 at 12:44:17 PDT, seller added the following information: I'm going to have to answer my MANY phone calls. Yes, I turn the phony buyers name over to my friend Vito !
