1973 KARMANN GHIA CONVERTIBLE One of the best things about this Ghia is the rust free body. It is solid underneath, which is rare on these convertible models. It was a California car until 2007, when a San Antonio, Texas buyer purchased it.It always drives well. 2 pumps of the gas pedal to the floor and it starts right up. In the past couple years it has made several 5 hour each way road trips and it performed like a champ.It has been maintained by one of Dallas's finest VW mechanics and VW specialists.The Karmann Ghia was made from 1955 to 1974. They only made 2555 convertibles in 1973...and this one is a blast to drive and guaranteed to get you some attention where ever it is driven. The car is outfitted in 'California cruiser' style with the sleek black side mirrors and the blacked out 'Karmann Ghia' emblem on the rear deck.This car allows you the opportunity to drive it and love it as is, Or if you want to create a show car, this is a candidate for that as well. The paint is in good but not perfect condition, with a couple of minor chips here or there.The seats are in good condition without any tears. The convertible top is new-ish (see pics) and does have the perforated headliner. The back window is glass. The speedometer, tachometer, and odometer work. Wipers work (not water spray though), signals/emergency flashers work, lights work (not the dome light), doors open and close right, windows are all nice, door windows roll down nice, engine runs well and does not exhibit any problems other than a couple drips of oil now and then. Car comes with the spare that fits nicely in the nose, new battery, and owners manual. The back of the back seat is upholstered on one side and carpet on the other-when lifted upright, it makes a very small back seat. There is a modern Kenwood head unit with removable face plate and removable speaker boxes (Pioneer 6X9's) in the back seat. Engine trunk cable/knob is there (in the body) but does not work-could be fixed very easily by re-attaching the cable and catch. Hood latch is in the glove box and operates by pulling the 'O' ring through the cable. The convertible boot (cover for the roof when it's down) snaps only in a few places, but does work.
