It is in excellent condition inside and out, and the upgraded 5.7 liter V8 runs great. 1996 was the final year for this full-sized, rear wheel drive sedan, and this is a fine example. It has just 78,623 original miles on it. This custom Chevy is not only in excellent condition, it also has some real history behind it. This SS was purchased in 2004 by Manny Ramirez, of MLB and Boston Red Sox fame. Manny had the car customized to his liking, most of the work having been done at Falmouth Auto Works, south of Boston. Manny later transferred the car over to his father (in 2008, we believe), who's name is currently on the title. We had a long conversation with the kind folks at Falmouth Auto Works, and they have confirmed that this is the car they customized for Mr. Ramirez. About $30,000 has been spent on the car, including the initial work and some additional enhancements that were done later. First and foremost is the AMAZING paint job. This car was completely disassembled inside and out before the work was done - the body panels, the trunk, the doors, the motor - everything was removed, painted and then reassembled. There are NO tape lines anywhere on the car. We've had several paint and body professionals look at the car and they agree that the only thing that distinguishes this from factory paint is the color (and the fact that this is actually higher quality paint than what came from the factory). This spectacular Impala SS has that and a lot more to offer. Please read through our description and take some time to look over the all of the pictures. If we can reach an agreement, we can always add a buy it now price to the auction. The exterior is remarkable shape. The "Granada Red" paint shines like new all around. There aren't any dents or dings, and Carfax shows no accident history or any other problems. We have found a couple of references to this car on line: Click here to see a blurb in “Boston Media Sports Watch” dated 8/31/04 noting Manny bringing the car to Falmouth for work, and Dan Le Batard of ESPN mentions a 1996 Impala as Manny's car in this article. Exterior features include 20" alloy wheels, red brake calipers and a rear lip spoiler. The interior is clean, and also in fantastic shape. The leather seats have no holes or tears. Both front seats have power controls. The rear seat is clean and comfortable. Dash trim pieces and rear speaker grills have been painted to match the exterior of the car. Again, this is all top-quality work. This Impala SS has some nice luxury and convenience features: Power windows, locks, and mirrors; Remote entry; Tilt wheel; Cruise control; cold air conditioning; Rear defrost, and much more. Safety features include dual air bags and ABS. This car comes with a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo with wireless remote and a Viper alarm system with remote start. The 1996 Impala SS was the only year with the shift lever on the center console. More evidence of the high-end paint work: all of the doors and door jambs were expertly done. Even the lip around the inside of the trunk (under the rubber molding) looks like it is from the factory. There's plenty of space in the trunk. A fire extinguisher has been installed. This 5.7 liter V8 runs great. This one has been upgraded with components from a Corvette LT4 motor. It also has a BBK throttle body and K&N cold air intake. It has been performance tuned with a Hypertech Power Programmer. Horsepower is estimated at 380. Other performance equipment includes a 3.55 Positraction rear axle, a sport suspension, heavy-duty sway bar and a complete BORLA stainless exhaust, front to back, including mufflers and resonators. The underside of the car is clean and free from rot. The front tires are in very good condition, the rear tires are brand new. (255/35ZR20 front tires, 275/35ZR20 rear tires) Carfax shows accurate mileage and no problems. (scroll down to see the Carfax) The manual is with the car, and so is the original window sticker.
