Vehicle Detail

Time to thin my bike collection for new stuff... Up for sale is my nice low mileage 1985 VF1000R. If you are reading this, you already know that this bike was a technological wonder when it was launched. The VF1000R was the Cycle Guide cover bike in July of 1985. The cover announced "The Fastest Streetbike In the World!". Their test showed 10.88 quarter mile at 124.48 mph. Top speed of this bike was 149 mph. Truly an awesome bike to ride and a beautiful piece of eye candy for the garage or living room. I purchased this bike from a California collector in 2005. The bike came with many receipts showing cosmetic parts replaced by LA Cycle Sports. Since that time I have continued to replace any part that was not perfect as they came available. From rear to front...the tail bodywork is near mint. The rear seat cowl and pad is NOS. The seat is bright red with no cuts or rub marks. Both of the black side vents are nice but the upper tabs are broken.. where they all break..not noticeable once installed. The windshield is original, not a reproduction. Battery is new. Air cleaner is new. Oil and coolant is new. Radiator cap is new. Upper fairing has great paint. The areas where the mirrors mount through the fairing is worn a bit. I have not seen a VFR where this was not the case. The mid fairing has perfect paint with one small touch up on the RH side edge. The bottom fairing is near perfect with no cracks or chips or scratches. The front fender is NOS. The handlebar control lettering is still bright as new. I also installed NOS mirrors a few years ago. All of the mounting hardware for the fairing and the fender is NOS. The one bad mark this bike has is on the tank. My CBX fell against the VF1000R a few years ago and put a silver dollar sized dent on the blue RH side of the tank. The paint on this tank is minty otherwise. (I have a NOS 1986 tank in the box that I will sell to the buyer if he wishes to replace the original tank ($500.00). The paint is the same but the stripe runs slightly different than the '85. This bike was never left out in the weather. You will not find any crusty rust or any surprises anywhere on this bike. Going past the bodywork, the wheels are fantastic with no scratches from changing tires or wheel weights. Tires are great. Brakes and clutch all work smoothly. Transmission shifts smoothly as a 9000 mile bike should. I road it to a car/bike show today that was 20 miles away. It ran fantastic. Nothing like the torque of a big V4. It is always a hit at the local shows. Last year I paid over $600.00 to have the carbs rebuilt and the rubber carb mounts replaced. The work was done by an experienced V4 Honda mechanic and the engine runs smooth and quiet. The pipes are original and have no scratches or dents. All lights and gauges work as they should. This is a really nice bike that could easily be near a "10" if you were to repair the tank ding. There is a place in Canada that has original decals for this tank.. Please look at my feedback. I am an honest ebayer and want you to be happy with your purchase. You can call me at 248-425-0238 if you want to discuss. I collect low mileage minty bikes from the 70's and 80's. They are my passion. If you are looking for a very nice, clean, and rare VFR with no stories, you will enjoy this bike as much as I have. I have set a very reasonable BIN price. I want this bike to be sold this week. More pictures are available if needed. I am willing to assist in shipping. Can also transport to Forward Air at Detroit Airport if needed. I have used several carriers and can offer suggestions.. But arranging shipping is for the buyer to handle. Nothing moves until checks clear or I have cash in hand. Thank you. Bob I just noticed there is also a very small intention under the "D" on the RH side of the tank. Could not see this in the sun but does show up in the picture. I have clear title in my name.
