Vehicle Detail
Link to photo gallery! First year Mercedes Benz 300 TD. 142,553 miles, all original, highway driven. Car runs and drives excellent and is all original including Mercedes OEM parts that I have bought during ownership. I am the second owner of this car. This first year of production wagon is a very well engineered German import. The MB W123 platform is the highest rated vehicle ever produced. With regular maintenance, these cars regularly exceed 750,000 miles on all original engines and transmissions and have been seen with over 1,000,000 miles and still daily driven. The fuel mileage is in the 24-27 miles per gallon range. The perfection of the suspension and steering geometry provides for a very nimble yet comfortable ride. I have owned and daily driven several Mercedes 300 series vehicles and they are truly outstanding machines and live up to their reputations. This fine vehicle could be yours. And at a very low 142k miles, it could be an heirloom car passed down for generations. "The 300TD was built on the storied W123 platform, and served as the “E Class” from 1977 to 1985. The lines on W123s are timeless: Straight and clean with tasteful chrome, the W123 sits upright and looks equally suited to taking on unpaved back roads and corporate parking lots. This is a cruising car in the purest sense, as it will wallow through turns but provide absolute comfort on the bumpiest roads. The choice model of the W123 is the 300TD, the classic shape powered by a 5-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine. The 300TD reminds us why Mercedes was once the gold standard — it is not uncommon to find these cars pushing 500,000 miles. The OM167 fitted to the 300TD is one of the most reliable engines ever built. Truthfully, these engines don’t need exceptional maintenance, but servicing them at regular intervals will help keep them ticking for decades." - Joseph Dillon, Hagertys"When the W123 went out of production in 1986 it had surpassed the Stroke Eight as the bestselling Mercedes-Benz with more than 2.5 million cars sold. Mercedes built the car to last, and many are still on the road today. As a testament to the car’s longevity, it is popular in Africa as a bush taxi, covering thousands of miles of rough roads with only basic maintenance. The 3.0-liter inline 5 diesel in the 300D, while lacking in power, is considered to be one of the most reliable engines ever built. The timeless design is sure to last as long as the car itself, making this car a classic that is here to stay." -Hagertys The buyer is responsible for pickup/shipping.
