Vehicle Detail
* 1978 Ford F250 Custom 2WD Pick Up * * True Survivor * Before you and up for bid is my 1978 Ford F250 Custom 2WD pick up truck. The particulars on my all original F250 are as follows: * A True "Survivor". A one owner Colorado ranch truck ordered and purchased new from Courtesy Ford in Littleton, CO. * ONLY 27,743 Actual Miles! YES, that's correct, only...27,743 miles! The truck was used primarily on the family ranch. When it ventured off property, it was for trips into town for supplies, or on camping trips throughout Colorado. * Barn stored and pampered when not in use, non-smoker, no (in cab) pets. * Other than routine minor farm dings and scratches, the truck has never been in any accidents. * Other than specks of surface rust where the paint is lightly scratched, this truck is guaranteed to be completely solid and RUST FREE! NO Winter's, NO salt or corrosives! * An ordered truck, it was optioned with a 351 V8, of which there are absolutely NO annoying drips or leaks anywhere. * 4 Speed manual transmission, 1st is a "granny gear", this truck has incredible low end torque, it'll pull whatever you ask it to. The transmission shifts perfect, the clutch is great. * FORD Factory Air Conditioning, COLD, not retrofitted * Power Steering * Power Brakes * Special order paint, it is Springtime Yellow with a Gold/Olive colored insert and roof. 100% factory original paint, no respray anywhere. Of note: with the paint being neutral in color, it is difficult to see reflections. I have included one picture where I am pointing to the refection of my athletic shoe to illustrate the paint finish. * Saddle Interior * Auxillary fuel tank, dash switch over * The interior is in amazing condition, a 9.5 out of 10! Perfect dash, NO cracks or warps! * Perfect original seating upholstery, unfaded * Perfect steering wheel, no cracks or wear * Perfect original rubber floor coving with NO cracking or dry rot, there are also two individual black rubber floor mats. * Originally ordered with an AM/FM radio, it was swapped out for a period correct AM/FM/Cassette sometime in the early '80's. The original radio is boxed somewhere and when located, it will accompany the sale. * A 3/4 ton, heavy duty truck from a period when trucks were constructed of Detroit iron. * 8 Lug steel wheels, the wheels/tires were 16.5 inches back in the day. All 4 tires are General's, they have excellent even tread wear remaining, there is no dry rot cracking. 4 FORD factory hubcaps * The factory original Good Year spare tire is still with the truck. * All original glass including the windshield, which still displays the June of 1981 inspection sticker. NO cracks or chips. Both windows roll up and down smoothly, the vent windows open and close properly. * All weather stripping is soft and pliable, the window brushes similarly, are in excellent shape. * Perfect headliner and sun visors. * All instrumentation and monitoring features are operable. * All features are fully operational, headlights, (hi & low beam) turn signals, horn, wipers, washer fluid, emergency flashers, heater, defrost, vents, cigarette lighter (as a phone charger), glove box light, interior dome light, dash lights. * All knobs, stalks, switches, buttons, levers, etc, are present. * Original jack as well as an auxillary jack mounted beneath the bed. (see pic) * Lockable in-cab hood release. * Period correct electronic brake controller. * Original keys, owners manual, operational pamphlets and original FORD dealer brochure are included. * Emergency brake holds strong Recently serviced including fresh fluids, belts, hoses, filters, spark plugs & wires, brake service and alignment. * 160-162 compression in all 8 cylinders There is no song and dance routine, stories or excuses with this truck. At 37 model years of age, the F250 looks and drives great, just as one would expect from a 27K mile truck. It accelerates strongly, goes down the road perfectly straight and stops assuredly. The interior is near flawless, people are consistently amazed at its condition and originality. The truck bed has light scratching, it was after all, a ranch truck. The tail gate opens and closes properly. The truck had a fifth wheel hitch for a hay trailer, it has been removed. The period correct brush guard, diamond plate running boards and fog lamps were installed, as was a front mounted receiver hitch to supplement the rear bumper tow ball. The fog lamp switch is under dash. In the fore area of the bed, an electronic winch was mounted. It has been removed, though, the accessory switch to operate it or another accessory remains. All in all, this is a remarkable collector truck, a one owner, true survivor with exceptionally low miles. You are bidding to purchase the F250, not to be the first to "look at it". Thank you. Please have your funding in place prior to placing your bid as most lending institutions will not loan on a 37 year old truck. Please consult with your spouse, therapist, pet or Magic 8-Ball prior to placing your bid, as I am not running a clinic for the confused. Thank you. The F250 and I are located in the Colorado Springs vicinity. Transportation and/or shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer. I can recommend a reputable shipper for you, if needed. Generally, I don't advocate that people drive older cars and trucks home, as older cars and trucks are just that...older. Miles from home is not the place to become acquainted with your "new" older truck. With that said, I believe that the F250 could be driven home to anywhere in America safely, and...with confidence. The truck is mechanically sound and completely road worthy. Inspections are welcomed and will be facilitated to the best of my ability prior to the auction concluding. If you are "new" to ebay, have 0% feedback, years of inactivity on ebay, excessive negative feedback or less than 10 transactions, you will need to CALL ME prior to placing your bid and express your intentions. Failure to do so will result in your bid being cancelled and you will then be blocked from further bidding. This simple guideline is in place to preserve the integrity of the auction from those that bid & win auctions, and then do not fulfill their purchase commitment(s). I have set a fair and reasonable reserve for the F250, it is commensurate with the condition of the truck, the ownership history and the very LOW, LOW miles. I know what the truck is worth and no, I am not talking in terms of sentimental value. Truck values have steadily increased in recent years while collector cars have leveled off. Collector trucks are hot! The astute buyer knows that the best value in the collector market is an original unrestored "survivor" vehicle. You can restore and paint 'em 10 times...but, they're only original once. A $1000.00 initial payment is due and payable within 24 hours of auction close VIA PayPal. NO exceptions. The balance is then due and payable within 7 days thereafter under condition and arrangement made between myself and the buyer. I prefer a legitimate bank to bank wire transfer for the balance as it provides a documented record of the transaction for both parties. The truck and title will not be released until full payment has been received. Upon receipt of full payment, the title and bill of sale document(s) will be forwarded VIA FEDEX. Clear Colorado title in my name. Ebay provides for only 24 pictures. I have selected pictures that best present a concise overview of the truck. If you would like any area specific pictures, simply request them. I answer my phone quicker than I respond to e-mail, call me directly with any questions. If you reach my voice mail, leave me a brief message and I will return your call promptly. If you would like to discuss a "buy it now", call me and PRESENT your offer. DO NOT call and ask me, "what's the lowest that you'll take?" Buyers from the U.S., Canada, the UK, Europe, Austraila, and New Zealand are welcome and encouraged to bid with confidence. If the truck is destined for Australia or New Zealand, I've had experience with and contacts @ Kiwi Shipping. I have represented the F250 honestly and accurately. Despite the excellent overall condition, given its age, it is understood that it is being sold in "as is" condition, with no expressed, written or otherwise implied warranties. With that said, this is a great opportunity at a desirable collector truck. One that is hard to find in this condition with extremely low miles and one that hasn't changed hands countless times...don't miss out. Thanks for looking and good luck when you bid!
