For sale by owner, a 1972 Volkswagen Westfalia Campmobile. This bus was purchased from a restorer in Colorado and was shipped to Bloomington, Indiana (NOT driven,) which is where this bus is located currently. (Feel free to check out "Joe's Cool Cars" in Denver, Colorado to verify, if you care to.) Evidently this bus was a European import and comes with the rare factory hitch. This Westfalia is the last year of the low light turn signals and rounded bumpers. It is also the first year of the more powerful Porsche-style "pancake" engine . It has a cot in the pop-top area, a fold-out bench seat that sleeps two more, plus a child cot which can stretch across the front seat area. This bus is a beautiful blue and white two tone. The interior was completely reupholstered in a two tone tan with custom blue piping. The pop-top is a new, desirable three window version, with new seals all the way around. A removable Coleman Ice box and water cooler is included. Mechanically, this bus runs like dream. At the time of purchase, I was told that the engine was rebuilt within the last 5,000 miles, and I have put less than 1,200 miles on it, since taking possession. The trans-axle shifts smooth and doesn't whine, grind or pop out of gear. The front end is tight and steers straight down the road. The brakes have been replaced recently and stop smooth and strong. All the electrical is in working order including; headlights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, horn, wipers, and fuel gauge. An inline electric pump for the windshield washer was added. One key works all the doors. The ignition switch is new and is in good working order. Since purchasing this bus, I have had it checked and maintained at "Brian's Off Road Shop" in Martinsville, IN. This bus is a blast to drive and looks great rolling down the highway or cruising around town. You'll enjoy many quiet hours getting back to nature, driving through the countryside.
