1986 Volkswagen Jetta Diesel NO RESERVE! This four door classic Jetta diesel sedan is an ideal vehicle for long term reliability and excellent fuel economy. It's a rare North Carolina rust free gem. My 2009 diesel Jetta averages 44, and this classic with manual transmission should do even better. I have seen them get 55 mpg. Runs good. The A/C is not working. A mechanic checked it out for me. All the parts are there and there are no leaks. It needs a new or rebuilt compressor. These are readily available. There is no rust and it has good upholstery with new paint. It is missing the rubber boot on the shift lever. A large box of spare parts is included. The tires are good with plenty of tread. Passed PA inspection. NOTE: The LED indicators on the original dashboard instruments (Speedometer, Tach, etc.) did not work, so it was replaced by the previous owner with a used one in order to pass PA inspection. The replacement odometer reads 277,705 miles. The original instruments are included, with its odometer reading 120,724 miles. The title dated August 10, 2010 reads 120,699. Based on how well this engine runs, the lack of rust and good running condition, I believe 120,724 miles is close to the actual mileage on the vehicle, but cannot be guaranteed. Why selling? We own six other vehicles, and two motorcycles. I was going to replace the compressor, put the original instruments back in and keep this long term, but my wife just bought a car and something has to go. We just don't have the space for it, and we prefer to keep all our vehicles in the garage. It is priced for quick sale. Since there is no reserve, the first bid of $1200 or more means it will then sell to the highest bidder. That's less than half of NADA's average value! NADA Average retail value is $2,637 as of September 2014. You can drive it home, or a good way to transport it is by a U-Haul Auto Transport trailer. The local rental cost is only $54.95/day, maybe cheaper elsewhere.
