1978 BMW R-Series

nice low mileage 1978 bmw r100rs. options include hard cases, icon shocks, progressive fork springs, fork brace, bosch blue ignition coils, high output voltage regulator, dyna 3 electronic ignition, reynolds ride off stand,luftmeister muffler heat shields, Reynolds rear rack with backrest included, heated grips, flamm horns. my riding has been split between it and a BMW R1200C. starts instantly, idles nice, runs, shifts, brakes well. no smoke, funny noises, wobbles, shimmys or other ill handling characteristics. about the only thing in question are the age of the Metzler tires. bodywork/chrome in excellent condition. paint has a nice finish with still brilliant pigment. a couple of small scratches and a nick or two in the bodywork. fairing has one small defect in left upper (pictured) and original windshield has small stress crack on top, dead center about one half inch long. seat excellent. service records indicate the bike fell over in a zero speed fall years ago and part of the fairing was repainted but does not indicate which side. right hard case also has small crack on top, again pictured. clock second hand has fallen off but clock still functions. purchased 7/28/93 from the original owner after he moved to pursue cancer treatment. I have the service records from second owner through 9/08. service dates, work done, accessories purchase dates and install, etc including an original bmw microfiche. one short term senior third owner before I got the bike. I purchased a 81 bmw r80g/s a few weeks ago. hence the sale. i've owned over twenty airheads in my lifetime and this is a nice one. a great example of one of BMW's premier models. a classic for sure. clear Missouri title.
