Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1985 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel with 211,000 miles on it and a custom Straight Vegetable Oil Conversion System from Golden Fuel Systems. The only reason we're selling it is because we're moving to Alaska and can only drive one rig north. We're keeping our newer VW Jetta that's also converted to veggie. This has been a great car and has ran solid for the 2+ years I've owned it. You could pay for the car the first year you own it with the fuel savings. I'll even turn over my vegetable oil account I get my oil from to you. The engine is solid. I've driven this for 2+ years now and it starts up every time. It drives like a champ on diesel of straight vegetable oil. Even in the coldest months of the year here in southern MO it fires right up, especially after putting the brand new battery with 700+ cold crank rating in it this spring before it got warm again. One of the windows won't roll down on it. It also has a slow leak on one of the rear brake calipers. I've been adding a bit of brake fluid every few weeks to keep up with it. I've been meaning to replace the rear caliper for a while but now someone else can do it :) The gel coat on the paint is coming off on the hood and a few other places and there's a little bit of rust around the wheel wells but not too bad. The AC doesn't work, but the heat does. I just roll the window down in the summer and the heat keeps me plenty warm in the winter. The stock fuel gauge doesn't work so I just add diesel once a week to make sure I'm topped off. (I just shot a video of it starting up and noticed that the fuel level is showing, so it may be working, I was just told when I bought it it didn't work, but that may not be true). I'll keep an eye on it and see if I notice it working or not. Because I drive on vegetable oil 99% of the time it only takes a few bucks here or there when I do top it off. Other than that it really does run great. I've burned alot of veggie in this thing the last 2 years and never had any mechanical problems with the engine. I've taken it to Kansas City and St. Louis on multiple occasions. I suspect once a few of these things are fixed (like the AC) it could be a really comfortable car for just about anyone and around for quite a while.
