Vehicle Detail
Truck will be featured in Grease Magazine sometime later this year. I was approached by them at at the Pin-Ups and Pistons car show in Buford, GA this past weekend. They took pictures after the show on Saturday (8/23/14). I also added some photos from the Pin-Ups and Pistons car show. This truck was built in Atlanta, GA when the factory here was still open. This truck hauled moonshine in the good ole days. Story goes that the man was running from the police with a load of some sweet Georgia White Lightning Moonshine (not the crap you buy at the store) and they were exchanging gun fire (it had 3 bullet holes in the back window). The guy ran off the road and down a bank (why I had to replace the cab). The cops never found the truck and the truck sat there for 20 years. After the man died his sons finally pulled the old treasure out to the woods with plans of fixing it. They purchased a rebuilt motor but that's about as far as it got. It sat in a shed (Barn Find) for another 20 years. A guy that has a tire shop here in Athens bought it with plans of fixing it. He ran new brake lines and replaced all the brakes. He didn't keep it very long. He told me he was in hard times and needed the money so I bought it. So, it is basically a 2 or 3 owner truck. 1952 Ford F1 F100. It has a rebuilt old school orginal flathead 239 8BA V8 and 3 speed on the column. Mileage shows 79k but actual miles is unknown. Cab is from a 48-50s model and has the small style back window. White walls with 50s Oldsmobile hubcaps. Some pics show the 50s Studebaker hubcaps but one came off and the truck decided to chew it up and spit it back out so I was only left with 3 and had to switch to some other ones I had that were just as cool. The close up picture and the main picture are the ones on it now. Has a 50s swan Packard hood ornament. This truck is rock solid. Bed has sheet metal welded in from many years ago. These trucks came with wood bed originally. Bed is solid no major rust. The wood is just layed on top. It is some rough cut oak that is about 10 years old. All bolts have been replaced on cab and front body. New exhaust dumped out behind the cab. Sounds awesome! New plugs, plug wires, solid state Petronix ignition, carb rebuilt, new battery, 12v conversion with alternator, new brakes and brake lines (stops great), new wiring, and the list goes on and on. Lowered by flipping the springs and welding up new perches. Gives it a little rake. It's a little bumpy but that is to be expected. All lights work. Aftermarket gauges have been installed cause the factory ones weren't as reliable. Gas gauge doesn't work but probably just the sending unit (haven't really looked into it). Speedometer doesn't work either (probably just needs a new cable). Cruises great down the road at around 55 mph. It's not going to set any land records but the flathead is what makes it cool. There are too many of these out there that are powered by a 350 Chevy. With the flathead you don't have to be ashamed to lift the hood. Does not have side windows. I didn't care about them since I didn't plan on driving it in the rain. This truck gets plenty of looks and brings a lot of attention. I've won several awards at car shows. I've put a few thousand miles on it this summer driving to work and car shows so I've worked out most of the kinks. This truck is in good shape to restore but I like it the way it is. I hate to see it go but I want someone to enjoy it as much as I have. Just ready to start a new project. Comes with a notarized bill of sale (No title). Georgia as well as most states don't require at Title after 1985. If you have any questions I am glad to answer them. This video was shot before exhaust had been run. Exhaust straight out of the manifold and still quiet. These engines idle low at 600 rpms or so. VIN# F1RAT-15963F1-model F1R-239 8 cylinder AT- Atlanta, GA Buyer is responsible for shipping.
