Description: You are looking at a 1981 BJ40 which is the diesel version of the FJ40. It has been lovely maintained and would make an excellent daily driver or beach/surf mobile. It is in excellent mechanical condition and very well maintained and up to date. It is not perfect and does have some minor surface rust but no cancer. The price reflects the minor blemishes. It comes with roof rack, long jack, roof rack water container system, vintage fuel can and holder, spot and fog lights, snorkel (not connected), custom upholstery and headliner, sound system, and roof mounted pull-out canopy. This BJ40 is setup to go camping or beach cruising. A very nice and fun looking rig! This is what is referred to as a "twenty footer" that looks excellent from 20 feet, but when you get close, shows its minor imperfections. That is why it has a price in the mid-teens and not in the mid-twenties or thirties! This BJ40 is originally from Costa Rica and has been a daily driver in Costa Rica where FJ/HJ45s and FJ/BJ40s are common and plentiful. It currently sits at my home in Costa Rica and will be headed to Miami, via shipping container, shortly after the end of the auction to be completely processed and imported pursuant to EPA and DOT regulations (exempt due to 25+ years old). The BJ40 will be registered in Florida and the winning bidder will receive a clean Florida title when the transaction is completed. I travel on an average of once a month to Costa Rica to scout for restoration candidates and have them either restored to original condition (20 footers), or have the 40s/45s restored (frame-off) to better than original condition and in showroom quality when the right candidate is found (perfect at any distance). This BJ40 is in great original condition and an excellent and dependable daily driver! The diesel version (BJ40) is much stronger and easier to maintain than its gasoline (FJ40) counterpart and very rare in the US and an excellent investment. Bid with confidence!
