Outstanding examples of Honda's revolutionary GL 1000 K0s are getting harder to find in original condition such as this. With 19,000 miles, this motorcycle of course spent many years sheltered from the elements before I acquired it in 2009. At that time it had 11,400 miles and has been gently ridden around central California over the last five years.All that I have done ,restoration wise, is to either replace, or have polished and coated the aluminum suspension and engine components. At that time I replaced the original steering head bearings with the upgraded roller type. I searched long and hard and paid dearly for the NOS blue Honda emblems on the valve covers. I did install an electronic ignition with coils for ease of maintenance and put a set of Randakk's grips on it for comfort. I recently replaced the brake and clutch levers as well. The mirrors are original and do have some minor pitting on the stems.I replaced both the fuel filter and the hoses recently and siphoned out the fuel tank when installing an NOS fuel sensor. I decided to leave the tachometer as is, with the characteristic crazing from age, as testament to the bike's age. The front tire is a Dunlop 404 with about three thousand miles on it and a brand new 404 is on the rear. I replaced the timing belt at 18,000 miles one year ago.I had an NOS rear caliper recently installed to brighten up the rear as the original unit was fairly grungy from road wear. I went through the front calipers and cleaned them thoroughly. The gel type battery is about two years old. This bike runs exceptionally well and is scary quick and fast. The first year GLs were designed to be a sport bike and these models are amazingly responsive for their 636 pounds. I'm offering this bike at a tempting starting price but I do realize the market is somewhat depressed now. If I don't see some early bidding, I might be tempted to pull the auction as I just as soon hang onto this baby. I am simply trying to downsize and find a new and deserving curator for this excellent survivor of Honda's amazing emergence into the Superbike market. I will promptly respond to any of your questions. I ordered a first year Gold Wing, sight unseen, in 1975 and proceeded to operate at warp speed around the western United States, while serving as a young Infantry sergeant. This is a relic of the rowdiness of my youth ,so bid well and often before I come to my senses !
