Vehicle Detail
This FJ40 in very good shape and nearly all original. It's a 3-speed manual transmission (column-shift), original F135 inline-six engine, and is overall in great mechanical shape. All the fluids have been replaced regularly, and this thing leaks virtually zero oil. It has not been driven much by either myself or the previous owner, and has been lovingly maintained. The odometer hasn't worked since I've owned it, but judging from what the previous owner said I estimate it has about 50K miles on it (The previous owner found it sitting in a barn).Things done in past few years (that I can remember):- Rebuilt carburetor- New water pump- New thermostat- Cooling system flushed (fluid was very clean, turns out it didn't need it)- Radiator hoses replaced- New master & slave clutch cylinders- All fluids regularly changed- Added spare wheel & tire- Replaced upholstery (both front & rear)- Refinished all seat frames- Added original Toyota seat-belts in both front & rear- New pedal pads- Replaced rear door latch- Added passenger-side grab bar- Added Toyota emblems- I know there's some more I'm forgetting...Things still todo:- The brakes have good stopping power, but require a single pump (I believe this isn't unusual in these older FJ40s). It's not a leak in the brake lines, and I've tried bleeding all the lines too. It's been this way for years so wasn't high on my list of things to improve.- The fuel gauge isn't calibrated correctly and reads about 1/2 full when empty.- The odometer isn't working (but I have verified that the speedometer is accurate)- Last time I tried the 4-wheel drive didn't want to engage properly. As I never planned to take it off-roading I'm not sure what it'll take to get it working well.- Note that this has not been a frame-off restoration, so there is some surface rust underneath and on some typical spots in the engine bay. There is way less rust than a typical FJ40 this age, but I'm just noting it so there's no surprises. The body itself is rust-free to the best of my knowledge.Contact me with any questions. I'm honestly hesitant to sell it, but hopefully there's a good home for it out there!
