Vehicle Detail

1980 TRIUMPH TR8 CONVERTIBLE This car is a rare 1980 TR-8 that is in immaculate condition. Only about 2500 were imported. It has always been garage kept. No accidents. The engine is the original block all aluminum 3.5 liter V-8. I have all the service records and the receipts for the modifications. The modifications that were made were specially made for the TR-8 and were the best available and have maximized the true potential of the car without changing the heritage of the car. The modifications include: Edelbrock Intake, Holly Carb, Mallory ignition, Isky Street Cam, Edelbrock Headers, Wilwood Front Brake Kit, Spax Adjustable Shocks on all four wheels, Smith Gauges, Jensen CD/Radio player. The other improvements that have been made are: mud flaps, new retractable convertible top, fog lights, front bra, British Mahogany steering wheel, new seat upholstery and boot cover in rare dark blue color, new paint in Midas Gold Metallic with clear coat, new interior door panels, new carpeting, new battery. Only 5100 miles since the restoration. The extras for the car are: Panasport Mini-lite wheel rims with new sport tires- THESE WHEELS REALLY MAKE THIS CAR LOOK GREAT! Custom made TR8 car cover from The Roadster Factory goes with the car. Car has WILWOOD front disc brakes and headers on the exhaust. THIS CAR NEEDS NOTHING! I also have the original wheel rims with newer tires which go with the car if you want them. I have the service manual, and the original window sticker, road test re-prints, dealer brochures, and history manuals. The car has absolutely no rust or corrosion- NO RUST ANYWHERE ON THIS CAR. The 3.5 liter engine has been used in racing for 40 yrs and can produce up to 500 HP. The car has been called the "British Cobra" by Car and Driver and has been included in the "50 cars you must drive of all time" The pictures do not do the car justice. VIN# TPVDV8AT213761. This is the best TRIUMPH TR8 that I have ever seen and that is why I bought it. It runs extremely well, the 5 speed manual transmission shifts very easily, the tires and wheels are like new. The interior is beautiful and has sound proofing/heat shield under the whole passenger area. These car are rare and can only appreciate in value. I took the car to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Walnut Street car show (7/14/14) and people loved the car! I have too many sports cars and need to "thin the herd". Privately owned- always garaged- only 5100 miles since the paint and engine restoration. The stainless exhaust has a remarkable sound to it. The asking price is $13500.00. Serious Inq. only. Please call Dan at 412-680-1639 TO MAKE AN OFFER AND TO ARRANGE TO SEE THE CAR. The car is located in Pittsburgh Pa. 15205. This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction early if sold. Thanks, Dan! To answer questions that have come in:The car has no air conditioning- it was removed when rebuilt. The car had 57298 miles on it when it was restored/ repainted /engine rebuilt and a new 140 MPH speedometer was installed- hence the speedometer/odometer now only shows 5153 miles since the restoration/ speedometer change. I have a signed statement (from the owner who restored the car and has told me that anyone can phone him concerning the rebuild) that goes with the car stating that the speedo was changed on 10/28/2006 and that the mileage on the car was 57298 at that time. SO, the car chassis has 62451 total miles on it. Apparently, these cars came with a smaller MPH speedo and most people upgrade to the 140 MPH speedometer which has been done to the car. I have posted a photo of the present odometer/speedo. THANK YOU, Dan On Jul-24-14 at 06:51:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Answering other questions: That is the antennae laying down on the left side of the trunk area; it folds down so that the custom made flannel car cover can be installed on the car for storage. The cover is usually on the car to prevent sun damage while stored inside. The antennae is NOT broken- just folded down. The blue carpets are in brand new condition as there are black TRIUMPH logo overlay carpets on top of the blue carpets in the trunk and drivers and passenger foot wells. NO MARKS AT ALL ON THE BLUE CARPETS. I do not have the original carburetors or intake- just the original wheels. Thanks, Dan
