Vehicle Detail
I am the third owner of this beautiful bike. The first owner and second owner were older gentleman who were longtime best friends. At a Honda test ride event in 1989, they both rode the GB500 and loved it; it reminded them of the Nortons and BSAs they had admired as young men. The first owner bought the bike and enjoyed it for several years, then sold it to his buddy, the second owner, who owned it for about 15 years IIRC. I bought it from the second owner, now in his 80s, last year. I love everything about the bike, but neck surgery makes it almost impossible for me to be comfortable on any motorcycle except one with the most upright possible riding position, so this cafe racer bike is not a good match for me. In addition, I have two kids in the Money Pit Otherwise Known As College, so here is the bike on eBay. It has a new (2013) front tire and a new petcock, and as mentioned the original muffler comes with it (the OE muffler has some very light rust spotting from sitting in a box in various garages for 25 years, but S100 chrome soap will make quick work of that). Otherwise I've done nothing to it but oil changes (done at dealership by mechanic with vintage bike experience) and put it in heated winter storage with stabilizer in the tank and a smart charger on the battery. It sounds *wonderful* and is just a hoot to ride, and it gathers attention like no other bike I've owned. I'm no mechanic, but as far as I know it needs nothing and is ready to ride. In fact, I rode it today, and as usually it fired up immediately and rode and ran great! A complete original tool kit is tucked away in its proper spot underneath the hinged seat. I also have both original keys, which work on the ignition and the seat/helmet lock. As noted above, the forks and parts of the engine case have some of the light metal flaking or corrosion typical of older Japanese bikes, which I tried to capture in some of the pics. This can be sanded and painted, or polished, if it bothers you; there are several tutorials out there on various motorcycle sites on the web. If you have any questions or need additional pictures, please let me know. I am not happy about selling this bike and tuition payments are due soon, so I'm pricing it aggressively to help it sell quickly. Please note the immediate deposit required via PayPal, and understand that all sales are final. I have clear title in hand and will release it and the bike only upon receipt of cash in person, or upon prearrangement, confirmed wire transfer to my bank. I will be happy to meet a shipper who comes to my door, but due to arthritis I can not help load the bike. This is the very definition of a cult bike and I expect it will go nowhere but up in value--get this one at a good price while you can!
