Vehicle Detail
The Honda CP 77 variant of the more well known CB 77 Superhawk is thought to have been produced for Japanese and other than US markets. Many existing CP 77s in the 305 registry are found in Canada. The main distinction is the motorcycle is fitted with touring style handle bars and turn signals. Although this bike is titled as a 1965 model, the frame serial number indicates its 1964 manufacture. The engine has no serial number inscribed as it was a factory replacement engine that went into the bike sometime in its life, according to the son of its previous owner. The original odometer indicated approximately 32,000 miles and was not functioning so I replaced it with an NOS Honda unit. This bike is fitted with the electronic ignition I located through 305.com and is a definite plus in performance and maintenance. The fuel tank is virtually rust free and is fitted with a new petcock. The exhaust headers are aftermarket which accounts for the bluing and I could provide a set of original double walled headers which would require plating. The mufflers are new reproduction units. The original handlebars were a little rough, so I replaced them with an NOS Honda pair from Ohio Cycle.I located a nice condition Buco windshield to accent the touring package. The fenders and side covers were heavily powder coated and flawless. It is fitted with new Avon Roadrider tires, a new chain and new gel type battery. All electrics work properly. The bike has its original tool kit. The bike starts up fine,no smoke and runs and shifts just fine. Superhawks are typically cold blooded, so adequate and patient warm up time is required. The one major flaw with the bike is the left lower frame/motor mount was broken at some time in the bike's history but this does not affect handling or performance in any way. It is pictured with the stock seat which is patched with Gorilla tape on some of the small tears to avoid further deterioration. The bike is currently registered in California and the pink slip is ready for transfer to the new owner. Any other questions I will respond to promptly. For the avid vintage Honda collector out there, here's an opportunity to acquire a rare item at a fair price. Good Luck !!
