Vehicle Detail
You know when people selling an 82-84 Camaro say "will make a great project" and what they really mean is that if you spend 10-20 grand in labor and parts you will have a car worth about 3 to 5 grand? This is NOT a project car...and here's why 1. Its lived nearly its entire life in California, hence the absence of rust 2. It was originally purchased by a Los Angeles doctor and subsequently sold to his colleague...I am the 3rd owner...this car was taken care of, it was not abused and raced 3. It was taken off the road around 2007 and sitting idle for years didn't do the engine any favors...even though it only has 87k it was a choice of a rebuild or brand new General Motors engine. I chose the latter and it now has a professionally installed GM 350 engine - installed by one of the top outfits on the East Coast. You won't see any blue smoke from the tailpipes 4. Also on the GM 350 engine...very importantly, all engine emissions were kept in place! Obviously all hoses and belts are new as well. 5. On the note of tailpipes, you won't be needing an exhaust - it is completely new from the Y-Pipe back...all stock from Walker Exhaust Systems 6. You won't be needing tires - virtually brand new BF Goodrich raised white letter tires P215/65R-15 7. The interior is just stellar - so many compliments on that. The rare brown Lear-Siegler pattern cloth looks fantastic on this color combination. The center arm rest doesn't have a mark on it, dash pad is mint (yep, that is a $450.00 item that is usually cracked beyond recognition in Sunny California 80s Camaros). 8. Ground effects in fantastic shape9. You won't need shocks or struts, recently replaced A few more odds and ends...the rear hatch release works, the temp gauge works, the stock radio and cassette deck work (with the added bonus of professionally installed MP3 Aux jack so you can listen to your itunes like its 1984). Has power windows set up if you want to switch back to power. 3 original sets of keys, with locking gas cap...I personally don't like hood blackout stripes but if you do, I have a new set ready for application From experience the most eye-catching thing about this Z28 is the rare color combination - the original color is quite unique, in 1984 GM called it "beige", in 1983 they called it "tan" and in 1985 a similar color was referred to as "light yellow" - the color of the car depends entirely upon the weather...sometimes it look white, sometimes yellow and even a golden hue depending on sunlight... The flaws... Fuel gauge stuck on full Oil pressure gauge doesn't work Shoulder portion of the drivers seat belt doesn't retract Took a small knock to the front driver's-side quarter panel over a decade ago, this was repaired, you can see the small cosmetic imperfection in the way the driver's door meets the quarter panel (as pictured) but it does not change functionality - the driver's door opens and closes as new.
