Vehicle Detail
1970 Ford Maverick 2dr Low RESERVE Ebay doesnt have a Maverick category if you can believe that (yet they have a Comet) So Im using the next best thing.. This car has great history, the original owner ordered a car with these specs for the most part in 1969, sometime early 70 the local FORD dealer (Old Pueblo Ford) at the time called the lady up and said we found a new car, with all the specs you wanted and we are shipping it in from PHX to Tucson. She bought this car in mid 70s and has owned it ever since. The car was driven as a daily driver up till about 15 yrs ago when it turned into a 2nd car. The odometer shows just under 110k and its box A all original. The car has the original motor, trans and AC option still. 90% of the paint is what Ford put on when it was built in 70. Being in AZ its whole life, other then mild surface rust the sheetmetal is amazing for a car this old. People back east could only hope their cars would look this good at this age. Az has been hard on the seatcovers, headliner and carpet and other interior stuff, but that sort of stuff you can fix in a weekend and at a fair price too. I bought this car hoping to keep it, but other things have come up and now its time to find it a new owner. Keep it as is and restore it back to stock, or maybe transplant a V8 into it and make a Grabber Clone out of it. Either way I dont think youll ever go wrong. Its about the cleanest Maverick Ive seen even around here in a few yrs. DRIVETRAIN: under the hood is the original 250 cyl which runs and drives great. Trans and brakes feel like that should and its a fun car to drive.Has alot more power then I expected thats for sure. AC all there but the compressor no longer has the pulley on. Not sure if its okay and maybe bypassed in its life for some reason or if it needs a new compressor and what not. Just rebuilt the carb and cleaned out the fuel system the best we could Only noise I hear under the hood sounds like a alternator bearing maybe. Its not squeeling or anything, but its humming and almost sounds like a PS pump going bad (except the car doesnt have ps). Would be an easy restoration under the hood. INTERIOR: again, Arizona has been hard on the rubber, plastic and vinyl on the car from the heat and dryness, so expect to have to restore alot of the interior too. Factory Tach & Gauges all seem to work correctly but the stock radio is gone. Its fine for a cruiser or daily driver, but if will need work if you want to restore it to a show car. But its all there and original . EXTERIOR: the car is amazingly straight front to back. Other then a few dings theres nothing bad to say about the body at all. Paint is almost all original, think the front valance was repainted at one time in its life, but pretty sure rest of the paint is still original. Chrome and stainless trim around the car are nice too. Missing grill emblem, but I may have it somewhere around here. 95% rust free AZ car and unmolested. Suspension: mostly all stock suspension with really old tires. The car has been off the road now for about 10 or so yrs, maybe more. Brakes feel good , shocks feel worn. This car is 95% rust free Arizona car We just sold a 78 King Cobra a few weeks ago here on ebay (please by all means check out our feedback !!) This is still a Muscle car that would be great to restore seeing that its survived this long thanks to the AZ desert. These cars rarely even come up for sale anymore, so dont miss this chance to own a clean Maverick. Check out ALL the pics below -----> it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra schroll bar on the right side. Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate. more info AFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics. Hope you like the detailed pics The interior floors are in nice shape as in much of the body Im sure there is some old repairs done over the years but it is a Project truck if you want to restore it, if you want It just to go on trails and wheeling, it needs very little. There you have it, probably The BEST represented JEEPS on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate them. We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows. People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end. Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these days speaks volumes. Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers. Our auctions have NOTHING to hide . Restore a car like this yourself or locally and you know exactly what you have in the end. Email us with ANY questions before you bid please If you treat yourself to buying one of our vehicles youll never buy a total rust bucket again from anyone !! Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. Doing restoration on this type of project is less labor intensive which means overall cost is less too ! With less horrid surprises later on. Dont let auctions with little to no pics try to fool you. With other auctions, you really dont know what to expect until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER with great pics to help making your decision easier. Along with ANY other questions you may have. Email me for a quote for shipping. Or fly in and drive it home, its that reliable and clean. Clear ARIZONA TITLE IN HAND I wont end the auction early !! On May-28-14 at 11:45:45 PDT, seller added the following information: The ignition or starter part is still giving me issues and works when it feels like it, BUT the funny thing is if I put a batter box or chargeron the battery, it will start EVERTIME when I do that. So not sure if its still a cable, connection or old switch. Just want to put that out there beforethe auction ends. On Jun-29-14 at 20:09:21 PDT, seller added the following information: IGNORE THIS PART AT THE END IT WAS FROM A PREVIOUS AUCTION AND CAR "The ignition or starter part is still giving me issues and works when it feels like it, BUT the funny thing is if I put a batter box or chargeron the battery, it will start EVERTIME when I do that. THE IGNITION IN THE MAVERICK WORKS GREAT ALL ORIGINAL ON THE COLUMN ETCOn Jul-02-14 at 17:38:48 PDT, seller added the following information: After installing the carb kit last week the car ran better but I noticed today it had a flatspot about midrange going to the store. So I pulled the carb off and going to soak it a few days and put it back on by Friday, hoping to clear out any gunk thatmay be stock in the accelerator pump passage. Just a heads up.Chances are, someone is going to swap a V8 into it anyways, but I want it runningthe best we can do before it leaves here.On Jul-05-14 at 22:05:33 PDT, seller added the following information: IM ADDING PIC TONITE OF A FEW IMPORTANT THINGS PIC OF THE CAR WHEN IT WAS A FEW YRS OLD THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL , BILL OF SALE , WARRANTYCARD / AND FORDS VERSION OF THE PROTECTO PLATEALL WHICH HAVE BEEN PRORECTED IN PLASTIC ALMOST SINCENEW.
