I am thinning my collection. Offered for auction is my 1983 BMW R65. This is a great bike to enter the world of collectible classics that you ride and not hide. This bike runs and shifts great. 650 CC boxer engine, 5 speed transmission. Mostly original, I added the period correct Krauser luggage, the black engine guards, the front fork brace, Progressive rear shocks,the windshield, a duplicate of original tire pump, a new seat cover and passenger grab strap. Includes the original tool kit in its pouch and the owner’s manual. The tank bag and GPS are not included. The bike was recently serviced by Bob’s BMW in Jessup MD. The service included a tune-up an oil and filter change, new steering head bearings, Progressive front fork springs and slightly heavier fork oil, new rear wheel bearings, wheel balancing, stainless steel front brake line, brake system flush, rear brake cleaned and adjusted, new carburetor floats and needle seats, new fuel petcock and external fuel filter, and air filter service. The tech who worked on the bike gave it a clean bill of health. I have the service records from the time I owned the bike. There are a few cosmetic issues. After all, the bike is over 30 years old. There is a nickel size dent on the right front of the fuel tank. It is not visible from the side or the seat. The switch housings , the engine and the frame tubes show normal patina for a bike of this age. I have some useful spares that go with the bike including some folding oil filters that make changing the fitler a snap. No need to drop the exhaust system. These bikes are easy to work on yourself. Every thing is logical and in-you-face easy to do. The owner’s manual includes a section on maintenance. This bike runs and shifts very smoothly and handles better than new with the suspension upgrades. It must be seen to be appreciated. The bike is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time without notice. The winner must pay in cash and pick the bike up. I do not accept anything except cash except for the initial $500 deposit through PayPal. The balance must be in cash. No checks or money orders of any kind. If you arrange for a third party to transport the bike for you, he must pay me in cash. No exceptions. I can deliver the bike to you in my enclosed trailer up to 200 miles for $1.00 per mile.
