Vehicle Detail

This is a 1966 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback. It was originally Springtime Yellow with a Lt. Ivy Gold Crinkle Vinyl and White Crinkle Vinyl Pony Interior. You can decode the data plate and the vin as seen in the pictures. As you can see now the car has been painted red but there are many areas where the original yellow is showing through. At some point in its life the interior was changed to a black standard one. It has a 289cu.in. engine and C4 transmission. The engine is not running at the present time. It has the stock rearend as well. It started life in Dallas, Texas on June 6,1966. After leaving Dallas it went to California where it spent the majority of its life. The owner before me found the car in Florida where after a number of years of trying he was able to purchase it from his next door neighbor. It the came to New York when the new owner moved here, where the car was stored inside his garage. It was only here a short while, never out of the garage, when they decided to move back to Florida. I believe the reason the body and undercarriage are in such good shape is because this car was lucky enough to never been in the snow belt until this spring when it came north. It was at this point that I bought it with the intentions of restoring the car but have realized that I have way too many projects ahead of this one and it really deserves to be brought back. The car has immense possibilities and is a very solid car to start with but needs a full restoration to reach its full potential.. The interior is very nice with the exception of the driver's seat. The dashpad is in excellent condition as are the door panels, rear fold down seat and carpeting, The steering wheel has some cracks and the instrument cluster plastic need to be rechromed. The door arm rests are missing. The inner front fenders are solid as well as the firewall, torque boxes, etc. There is a new front bumper to go with the car. I can provide you with more pictures if you have specific ares you would like more detail of. This is definitely one of the rarer early Mustangs and would make a great car for someone to restore. Please feel free to call and discuss the car anytime. Call 315 796-8426 and ask for Steve. You are also welcome to come and inspect the car, it is just outside of Utica, NY. You are responible for shipping but i will help where possible at this end, but you must make the arrangements. On Jun-06-14 at 11:26:50 PDT, seller added the following information: We put the car on a lift yesterday the floors are very good, the bottoms of the doors are excellent, there is a small hole in the wheelhouse in front of each rear wheel, the trunk drops are excellent, the rear frame rails are good up to the rear spring schackle beyond that there is some rust on the passenger side, the rockers are excellent,. the firewall, cowl, inner front fenders are all excellent, there are is a small patch on each torque box. The car has power steering and tinted glass, front tires are excellent, the backs are good but weather checked. The engine will probably need to be rebuilt due to it sitting. I have many more pictures of the undercarriage if anyone is interested. Again I encourage any one to call me at 315 525-8819 since Steve is not available this weekend.
