Vehicle Detail
HELLO: This car is being re-listed due to the winning bidder having "loan approval" to spend the money only to realize that the loan is only viable for a vehicle year 2005 or newer. I think it is pretty safe to assume that a bank is not going to issue a loan for a 41 year old car, but eBay apparently has a financing agreement with a bank and he was approved for the loan connected to the listing.... So be careful...Today I am once again listing a very special one of a kind custom car. This car was built in 2005 and featured in Vette magazine that same year and is still in wonderful condition. The cost of the build was nearly $60K as it was a full frame-off with a $15K paint job with brand new everything. There is once again no reserve on this auction. I paid just over $30K for the car and I hope to get most of it back. Please don’t make this hard for me, or I will just keep it. I love this car but eventually I get bored with a car and sell it and get something else.... INTRO: Up for sale today is my 1973 Custom Corvette StingRay. The car features many one-of-a-kind features including a 2” angle chop top, a 2” body stretch, and a 2” drop of the chassis. There are many small custom features (like the integrated urethane nose) that may go un-noticed as well. This car is a consistent show winner and turns more heads than a young Pamela Anderson running topless. The photos DO NOT do this car justice. It is absolutely stunning in person. Today (June 1, 2014) this car won the Quartermaster Trophy at a large regional show with over 100 high quality cars, including a Fuelie split window 1963 Corvette, and many other six figure cars! At this show that is Best of Show. This trophy and one other go with the car! WHY I AM SELLING/TERMS/TRADES: Before I further describe the car, I want to be clear about a few things: THIS IS NOT A DISTRESS SALE. I can afford to keep this car indefinitely. Money is NOT a problem for me (trying to get rid of the Vultures, re-sellers, and Bottom Feeders – it never works). My car collection is bursting at the seams so I am tight on space so I am letting a couple of cars go. I can rent space pretty cheaply if I have to so I won't be giving them away. I may be willing to let someone pay me over a short period of time (3 months MAX), no interest, but I own 100% of the car and paperwork until it is 100% paid for. And you will have to convince me you aren’t going to be a problem before I will do this. I am going to fully disclose what I know about this car, even if it is at my own peril. I am not interested in ANY trades of ANY kind. Sorry, my garage is overflowing already. Anyone who tries to scam me or hurt me will find out what their genitals taste like. Be decent to me and we will get along fine. I am not a kid and I am not an old geezer. I have a family and a full time job so please be respectful that my time is limited. Please bid only what you can afford to pay and please be sure your spouse of whomever has approved the purchase. I will require an immediate deposit of $500 at the close of the auction. If you come to inspect the car after a deposit and it has been grossly misrepresented I will refund the deposit. If you can't come up with the money, change your mind, the dog bid for you, or you have were forced to bid as part of a sex game (I have heard them all) you will only get half of the deposit back. If you never call or do not complete the transaction in a timely manner I will keep the whole deposit. Full payment by bank wire transfer, cashier's check drawn on a real bank, or cash in person is expected within 7 business days unless we make other arrangements prior to the auction close. Please view my 15 plus years of flawless feedback. There is a reason for it..... ZERO FEEDBACK BIDDERS will have their bids CANCELLED unless they talk to me ON THE PHONE. So provide your phone number and I will call you and allow you to bid. Please understand that you do not bid to “be the first to look at the car” and that your bid is a contract to BUY the car unless it is NOT what has been described. There is NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND ON THIS CAR. It is sold as-is where-is. It has been restored but it is still 41 years old. There will be small issues from time to time as there are with all vintage cars. If you do not understand this, please do not bid. THE WHOLE STORY about the Super Vette: Please READ the WHOLE story and look at all the pictures BEFORE you make an offer…. I have written an awful lot to prevent a misunderstanding. Please read on if you are serious… This incredible car began as a no-expense spared frame off restoration of an exceptionally clean Arizona Corvette. I have many photos showing the bare frame painted with the new engine and the body on the rotisserie to show how far this car was torn down. The body was given a 2” angle chop and the seating area was lowered to maintain headroom (it is still tight for tall people). A partial 1980 nose was grafted on and the suspension was altered to lower the car slightly. The new crate 350/350HP 4-bolt main engine was added with a rebuilt T350 transmission at this time. The braking system was completely redone. 1980 vintage seats were re-upholstered, and installed with a new carpet and the car was completely re-wired. The entire interior was re-done and is still excellent. Then the car was blocked for 300 hours and the car received show quality (2 stage) paint. New aluminum Torq Thrust wheels were installed with new Yokahoma tires. The car was then featured in Vette magazine in October 2005. A pristine copy of this magazine and a book of photos of the restoration/build will go to the new owner. The car then went on “tour” and won multiple awards at car shows. I bought the car in late 2012 from the estate of the owner. Up to that time the car had always been in Arizona and the desert southwest. After the magazine shoot the front side markers were removed as a final custom touch. This car has been driven nearly 20K miles since the build. It is still nearly perfect in every way which is a testament to the original build. There is not a single crack in the bodywork including the integrated urethane nose and the chopped roof pillars. Incredible, right? Except for a few TINY touched up chips that you have to have your nose almost touching the car to find the paint is perfect. Again, the final blocking and paint cost over $15,000 so consider that when looking at a Corvette that “needs paint”. The underside of this car is spectacular – see the photos. Incredibly clean and nicely painted. No issues at all.The glass is excellent except for the side windows. See below. The car runs and drives perfectly. The tires are now nearly ten years old and worn at least 50% but they look excellent with no cracks since the car is always garaged. Sun kills tires, not time or mileage. But I would still replace them if I drove it a lot. The car has power steering, power brakes, tilt steering, and air conditioning that is all there but not working. It is very easy to drive and has enough ground clearance that it is not an issue 95% of the time. If the steering wheel is turned to the lock, those massive tires will rub inside. This is only an issue when parking, and not much of one. ALL OF THE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN A WEEK BEFORE THE LISTING BEGAN. Nothing has changed. I guarantee it. Be sure to ask this question when looking at other cars on here. Here is a list of WHAT WORKS on the car: Headlights (high and low beams); Wipers, brake lights, parking lights, turn signals, horn, gauges, gauge lighting, speedometer, interior light. Yes the lights go up and down. Here is a list of what I know about that needs fixing: The side windows are made of Lexan and they have deep scratches and need help going up and down – sometimes. I leave them down all the time or at least make sure to put them down when I stop. It honestly never mattered to me as I am always windows open and usually tops off when I drive it. I was going to cut down a pair of glass windows and change them out but never got to it. I had one estimate at a glass shop of $1000 to do the whole thing. Air conditioning – everything is present and this is an original A/C car but there is no belt and I have never tried it but I would assume there is an issue. Again, never mattered to me… The radio does not work. I don’ know why. Again, never mattered to me as I prefer V-8 music. The e-brake – the “ratchet” needs work. It works but will only work while your arm is pulling it. Door locks – this car has the typical C3 issues (they stick, jam) where they can be tricksey so I do not use them. I’ve never needed to. Wipers - work but need the arms shortened as they hit the T-tops because of the shortened windshield.Clock - doesn't work. Probably just the fuse is pulled. I never looked at it. These things just kill batteries anyway. That’s it. The car is ready to drive across the nation today. It is fairly quiet so if you like loud you may want to “loud it up” if you should buy it. It stops and steers wonderfully. It draws more attention that Justin Beiber. It will win the “dead grass” award at any car show on turf – you may not be able to see the car for the crowd around it. This car will not disappoint even the pickiest person. If you are a very big or tall person this car may not fit you. I am 6’3” and 200 pounds and it fits me but I wear the car more than I sit in it. It is quite comfy but it is surely snug. I call it my Super Suit. You really do feel like Superman when you drive this car…. You are at least an instant movie star.... PAPERWORK: I have clean, clear, and blank Arizona title for this car. It is also registered in CT in my name so if you are a CT resident there are no inspections of any kind required to register. Just take the registration stub to DMV and walk out with plates. I will gladly fill out any additional paperwork that your state requires. INSPECTION: I do not have time for tire kickers, chat pals or lookey-loos but I will gladly show anyone the car BEFORE they bid or make an offer. I would prefer it if at all possible. Any inspection BEFORE an offer is welcome. VALUE: This car is well worth what I am asking – I have priced it to sell quickly and at a loss to me. Again, it cost nearly $60K to build this car and would cost even more today to build. I am not greedy – I am just trying to get back most of what I paid for it. I am not poor – at all - so please don’t waste my time with lowball offers. Do you think you can find another one? This is the ONLY one. COST TO OWN: Classic car ownership is very cheap. Here in Connecticut, fixed costs per year are $40 for early American plates; around $20 for taxes ($500 tax assessment is MANDATORY); and Hagerty Classic Auto Insurance is around $120 a year for FULL coverage. So for about $200 (about $0.60 a day!) you can enjoy driving the Super Vette! Classic cars are a great investment. According to Knight Frank's Wealth Report, collectible cars were the top-performing collectible asset with prices surging 23-percent in the 12-months ending in the third quarter of 2012, and posting gains of 395-percent over 10-years. Google it if you don't believe me. FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: The car is located about 100 miles from New York and New Jersey shipping ports. I would estimate it would cost around $500 to get the car down there. You will have to handle the broker and pay for everything of course. Domestic shipping: I recommend Montway for long hauls and Uship for short hauls. If you are on the route between CT and Dallas Texas I have a friend (Fernando) who makes a regular route and he can get the car to you cheap. If you are in the Northeast I will direct you to Walter at C&C Transportation 978-846-8578. He will be cheaper than anyone. QUESTIONS: Send me your phone number and I will gladly ask any questions that you may have. I sincerely want the buyer to be happy with this car. If you plan to ship the car I will do my best to hand the car off to the shipper and take condition pictures as it goes on the transporter in case something happens. Congrats: For making it through my dissertation. I feel this is necessary to properly describe a car for people who may be buying “sight unseen”. When looking at other cars on here you should DEMAND all of this information. I never understood people who bid on cars with poor pictures and terse write-ups. Many sellers take poor quality pictures to hide defects. Notice that my pictures are taken in full sunlight. And even pictures taken well can be deceiving. Be careful and ask lots of questions. You are playing with fire…. On Jun-02-14 at 04:14:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Revision to All: The Trophies DO NOT go with the car. My 8 year old daughter was there to get both trophies and she CRIED when I told her I was giving them away with the car. The winning bidder may see them, photograph them, and make a plaster mold but they DO NOT go with the car. They will be in her room when the car is gone until she is a teenager and doesn't care about them, or anyone anymore. If anyone wants to retract a bid because of this, please just let me know and I will get it done. If anyone wants more pictures, and pictures of the car with trophies, please ask. I have hundreds of pictures. On Jun-05-14 at 13:39:31 PDT, seller added the following information: A few more pictures can be found here. Pictures of the car at the show and the car with my daughter and I and the trophy. I will add a few more albums if I can. http://www.use.com/supersize.pl?set=d2ddf4a0bcabcdea6686
