Vehicle Detail
1978 Mustang II MACH 1 NO RESERVE The car really needs almost a full restoration to be finished, but whens the next time youll find such a nice rust free Mach 1 for as cheap as we are selling this one for? ITS A TOTAL PROJECT CAR - but even if you sink a few grand in this car its still a Mach 1 Mustang and will always have a following and worth more then most all other Stang IIs on the road. Heres the story on this very rare (aprox 6719 made) Mustang II The plates where last registered in 1996 here in Tucson. Why the car was parked back in 96 we didnt get a confirmed answer but the car has only had 2 owners since day 1, keep in mind the DSO Code on this car is PHX, this Mach 1 was originally sold here in Tucson. So expect a very rust free Az desert kind of car thats been sitting in the Sun for about 18 yrs. We got the car last week and basically how you see it, inside and out. Its had some yrs of use and some neglect. Luckily the cars never really been hot rodded, so the motor is basically bone stock still and its for the most part a very unmolested 78 Mach 1. ODOMETER shows to be about 87500, which very well could be original cant say for sure yet. Keep in mind the car has been parked since 1996. Because of rust and abuse and lack of respect for these cars in the 80s and 90s, many of these cars where crushed, parted out or rusted away, making this generation of Mach 1s probably some of the rarest out there. Finally the Mustang II generation is on the rebound and that means their values are rising and when buyers are looking for a good car to restore, these are near the top of the list. And luckily, their prices are still affordable, that being said, the reserve on this particular Mach 1 is Low and Reasonable. DRIVETRAIN: under the hood is the original V6 2v motor matted to a C4 3 spd auto and in the back is the 3:40 geared rearend. The oil in the motor looks brand new, and the last owner did tell us the motor was rebuilt about 10k miles ago. No reciepts sorry. Ive driven the car around a big parking lot and trans feels okay, motor sounds good. Brakes also feel good. Under the hood is a little messy, wiring could be cleaned up and whenever we put water in the radiator, water comes out by the ps exh manifold. So not sure if its a freeze plug or not. Looking into that this week to try to at least see what the problem is there. AC belt not on, but the compressor spins okay and the AC system is mostly complete (no condensor) so getting the AC back on track shouldnt be too hard. Chances are the car could also use some sort of tune up and possible carb rebuild from sitting so long. PS and PDB all feek good. The exhaust system still looks all stock and original. How many unrestored 78 Mach 1s can claim that. The 155-80-13 Tires are NEW and maybe have 200 miles on them. The old school CRAGER RIMS look cool and not too bad of shape for drivers. It IS a project car keep in mind. INTERIOR: again, Arizona has been hard on the rubber, plastic and vinyl on the car from the heat and dryness, so expect to have to restore alot of the interior too. Factory Tach & Gauges all seem to work correctly and still has the factory AM/FM stereo. Not sure if the build sheet is still in there, but you can get a Marti Report on this car too. Blinker switch broken off as you can see, but 1 thing you cant see it the Key is in the ignition and you cant turn the switch in the column all the way back to OFF. And the previous owner installed a push-button starter switch in the dash long ago. It works fine, but we found the only way to really turn it off so far is to let just let the carb idle down and shut off or possibly pop off the coil wire or cover the carb with a towel for now. It needs to be fixed so you can use the key correctly like intended. The interior shows alot of wear and tear but nothing that cant be restored with some time and money. Factory fold down backseat intact. Some plastic pieces missing and may need some wiring fixed from the ignition switch to put back to stock again. Window tint on the glass is a good 20 yrs old and needs to be redone too. Spare tire in well missing. EXTERIOR: the car has its shares of bumps and dents, and some minor repairs have been started over the yrs, but nothing finished of course. NO rust on the body other then maybe some surface. 1 thing you WONT hear us say in our ads is "rust in the usual places". What is that suppose to mean ????? just some cheesy way to unload responsibility I guess for some sellers. Ive been all over and under this car (with pics below to prove it) and this car is just like all the other AZ CARS here in Tucson and show little to no rust, some dents, yes. We did primer a few areas with flat white primer in hopes that it would make seeing any damage easier for anyone viewing the car. Which is cool is the car is still wearing about 50% of the stock paint still. Front valance is missing as you can see in the pics. All the glass does seem to be good and accounted for. Suspension: mostly all stock suspension, think maybe the shocks have been replaced over the yrs. The world famous Mustang II front suspension looks good with PS. I did see a rear sway bar on the back, and the whole thing looks very unmolested and original. This car is 95% rust free Arizona car We just sold a 78 King Cobra a few weeks ago here on ebay (please by all means check out our feedback !!) This is still a Muscle car that would be great to restore seeing that its survived this long thanks to the AZ desert. These cars rarely even come up for sale anymore, so dont miss this chance to own a M2 Mach 1. To make this car a daily driver, it would need the water leak fixed right away and tune up stuff at very least...not sure exactly what else because we cant drive it all that much to check more. The fuel tank is currently out, we are cleaning it out. We'll have it back in before the car ships and all hooked up like stock before it ships out or sells. Check out ALL the pics below -----> it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra schroll bar on the right side. Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate. more info AFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics. Heres a great chance to buy the Mustang II youve been waiting for. A smart and well marketed for all ebay bidders and buyers, why would you bid on any other car ? Being sold by us, a seller with excellent feedback and history With ebay and buyers. What more could you ask for ? :) Probably The BEST represented Stang on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate the pics. We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows. People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end. Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these days speaks volumes. Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers. Our auctions have NOTHING to hide . These cars are a solid investment and we know our buyers are serious about finding the right car, which is why we spend so much time and effort marketing and promoting our cars. Buying cars long distance can be a challenge, but we know bidders on our cars can bid with confidence on our auctions. Restore a car like this yourself or locally and you know exactly what you have in the end. Email us with ANY questions before you bid please If you treat yourself to buying one of our vehicles youll never buy a total rust bucket again from anyone !! Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. Doing restoration on this type of project is less labor intensive which means overall cost is less too ! With less horrid surprises later on. Dont let auctions with little to no pics try to fool you. With other auctions, you really dont know what to expect until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER with great pics to help making your decision easier. Along with ANY other questions you may have. Email me for a quote for shipping.
