Vehicle Detail
Here is an exclusive opportunity to own a very rare year, vintage Honda 305 Dream. It has been brought to my attention that this is a 1963 model. I had seen pictures of '62 Dreams and the tank/seat style was what I based my info on. I am the second owner of this bike having purchased it 34 years ago in 1980. Over the course of those four decades I put 5000 miles on the machine with its total mileage now being 10,115.9 miles. The motor has never been out of the frame and it is the original. Engine # 312447 / Frame # 312432. It has the original stainless steel mufflers into which I installed NOS baffles. There are some scrapes on the right muffler bottom but they are fully intact. There is a bend at the bottom of the front fender which appears to be from an earlier rider going off of a curb. I had the side covers repainted to curb the march of time but there was no major rust or damage to them. The header pipes I had chromed. I replaced the original fuel tank with an NOS Honda unit and had the side panels chromed and used reproduction Dream tank badges. You'll notice this year of Dream used a different pattern tank with no center seam. The seat, which is also unique to this year, I had recovered by the guys at Cool Retro Bikes. I opted for the blood red cover based on research of original photographs and at the advice of the seat restorers. The front tire is an NOS ribbed pattern and the rear is a new Coker Tires 3.25-16 Firestone. I have an additional brand new rear tire which will accompany this bike. The battery for this year is the larger style and is about a year old. I have an additional NOS/NIB battery which is included. This model also has the tire pump and the pump mount key is shown in the photos along with its original tool kit and owner's manual. The clutch handle pictured is not bent, but was the original style offered as an old bike mechanic pointed out to me some 40 plus years ago. It has the original clutch and brake cables with the grease fittings. I replaced the starter brushes a year ago and it whirrs quite happily. I like to park the bike in the sun for a half an hour prior to starting just to ease the process. Once warm, the motor jumps to life with a quick bump of the switch. I also installed an NOS Honda coil setup recently. I had kept that little gem tucked away for years. The bike runs strong and shifts easily and I replaced the clutch with an NOS Honda unit several years ago for good measure. If the auction winner so desires, I have an additional CA77 engine which is a rebuild from new internal components and would be available for pickup or freight. All and all, its a great bike and a real head turner and crowd magnet. Any other questions you may have I will respond to promptly. DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY ! This is a rare item from the early days of motorcycle history ! Good Luck
