Vehicle Detail

1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass in excellent mechanical condition. 101,305 original miles. ENGINE and TRANSMISSION: Runs as it always has, smooth and powerful. The transmission operates as it should, however when placing car in park it does not always catch (on a hill it will come out of park periodically). I am told this is a simple adjustment which I may do at some point, but currently this is the condition to expect. The car does shift smoothly through all gears and engages in all gears as it should which leads me to believe the adjustment is a simple fix. I have driven the car on and off for a couple of years and have had no problems mechanically with it. The car does NOT burn oil nor does it have any issues with leaking fluids that I am able to see. I do see small amounts of moisture on the bottom of the engine so I am sure there is mild leakage, after all it is 43 years old, but there are no apparent issues meaning this is not an issue. DRIVETRAIN: Rear wheel drive, automatic transmission, stock rear end. Interior: Headliner is complete and intact, seats are complete with no apparent rips, but plenty of staining, carpet needs replacing, dash board has cracks as seen in photos, door panels are intact but in poor shape. See photos for details. Exterior: Paint job appears to be original with an additional overspray done over the original paint job. I honestly have no idea here, you can use your own judgement by looking at the photos. Obviously if you wanted the car to be like new it would need a complete stripping and re-paint anyhow. It looks to me that someone attempted to paint over the original paint job to touch it up at various times. As far as rust it is what you see in the photos. There are a few surface areas but nothing of significance. There are some areas around the glass and at a few edges, but any spots are visible in the photos so please look closely. Wheel wells: When I cleaned the exterior of the car before taking photos I used a pressure washer and shot the wheel wells heavily, this removed what appeared to be rust proofing, or undercoating and revealed solid metal. There was no rust that I could find in the wheel wells. Underneath: The car is very solid. There is no rust other then surface issues that would be somewhat standard. No holes etc. What you see in the photos is what you get. Overall this is a 43 year old car that is a good daily driver. You can use it as a daily car, or restore it easily as it is complete and solid. It is a four door which while not as popular as the two door are getting harder to find and increasing in value. This car has not been molested or mutilated. It is a good example of a solid olds that should last for sometime. 101,305 original miles.
