Vehicle Detail

Please allow ample time for our high resolution photos and video of this remarkable Austin-Healey 100-4 to load. We hope you enjoy our presentation. 1954 Austin-Healey 100-4 as presented by... Street Machines 27313 FM 429 Terrell, Texas, 75161 Robert or Sam at 972-563-7268 ENJOY OUR VIDEO BELOW VIDEO ABOVE / PRESS PLAY This Austin-Healey was recently discovered in Dallas, Texas where it had sat un-disturbed for the previous 43+ years. The car still wears its 1971 Texas inspection sticker and license plates. Luckily for us and for you, the car made it here to our facility at Street Machines. This is a perfect builder for someone looking for a just-right Healey to go through and make their dream car. Enjoy our presentation and feel free to phone or email with any questions. This car does have a clear, Texas title in our name, ready for transfer. The story is the car was purchased new by a gentleman who sold it to his son-in-law sometime in the 1960s. We purchased the car from the son-in-law's widow. The car has been here in Texas since it was first purchased, from what we have learned. This photo was taken as the Austin was being towed out of the local garage where it has been stored all these years. The body is in excellent condition, displaying solid original quarter panels, fenders, rockers, doors, hood, etc. The original bumpers & grille are in place and in excellent condition for restoration. All of the trim is intact as well. Much of the paint is cracking and can be removed fairly easily. The body lines are straight along both sides. There are a few dings on the driver's side rear quarter panel. The original knock-off wire wheels are all on the car as well as the spare wire wheel. We also have the factory jack & jacking equipment with soft case. The tires are 43+ year old "Sports Car" labeled poly-bias tires. They will hold air. This is a rolling project. The original fold-down rear windshield was folded down by us for the first time in all of those decades. You can see the old Texas inspection sticker in place along with some other collegiate decals from the era. This car was driven on campus at Southwest Texas State University in '69-70. The windshield has a single crack right down the middle. The framework is in excellent condition. The original soft top was also on this car. This is a amazing in itself, it also is in very good condition considering. Some of the stitching has came loose from us trying to affix the snaps at the rear. We are leaving it alone now though. We also have the original side curtains. The side curtains are very unique and hard to find. The chrome that surrounds them is in good condition, even. The plastic has a yellowish tint to it. The interior is original and remarkably intact. The original seats wear what appears to us to be the original upholstery, which is remarkable. It is also in very good condition, left and right. The seats fold forward as designed. The carpeting is also mostly intact over the original floorboards, also in excellent condition. The dash is another remarkable aspect of this Healey. It is original, displaying the original black laquer-type finish with the original Smith's gauges. Check out the factory over-drive toggle switch. The mileage is showing 5,621 and I have no idea how many miles this car logged in the 15 or 16 years it had on the road. We put power to it and the lights lit up, the horn even blew. WOW The doors open and close as they should. This is a true Roadster, no roll-up windows to be found on an early Healey. Check out the old 1960s? Gulf sticker in the door jamb. The door undersides & rocker panels are excellent. The original trim is intact throughout both the driver and passenger door jambs. Under the hood is the original 2.6 liter 4-cylinder engine. This car has not ran in 43+years. This is the original engine, matching the Texas title. It will need to be completely gone through. We pulled the valve cover and sprayed penetrating lubricant throughout. We also inspected the cylinders after removing the spark plugs, 3 of them look great while one is grungy. This engine will need to be completely overhauled I'm sure. It is full of oil and intact, down to the original carburetors, antique wiring and antique spark plug wires. The engine would not turn by hand. The transmission will move into the gears and is also intact, down to the original shifter. Further inspection of the engine compartment will confirm the original sheetmetal throughout the firewall, inner fenders, and core support is intact, straight and in very good condition. You can see much of the original Ice Blue finish in the inner fenderwells of this car. The original generator charging system is also intact along with the cloth-wrapped wiring throughout the engine compartment. The trunk is solid as well, displaying the original gas tank, spare tire/wheel & jacking equipement. We have the original tool bag as well, but it is very worn and no tools other than the jack pieces photographed. The trunk pan is also intact, with some rust beginning at the rear edge, this can be seen underneath. The undercarriage displays excellent original framework throughout along with the original bracing and floor pans. The flooring is really outstanding on this car. Be sure you look closely at all of our detailed photos. We also will welcome and entertain any professional inspections if arranged with us. This side exhaust exit must have given a great sound. I believe these cars were rated at 90 horsepower. They are very lightweight. Austin-Healey produced approximately 10,000 of these 1st series BN-1 100-4 Healeys, beginning in 1953. It is not known how many survive today. Shown above is the rust is the rear trunk pan area, just behind the frame rail. The inner quarter panels are excellent. You can even see much of the original oxide primer still. The door undersides and rocker panels are in excellent condition. Also, the inner wheel wells are intact throughout each corner and in excellent condition. The lower quarter panels are excellent, inner & outer. It doesn't appear this car spent any time in a damp climate or environment. We have came across many project cars over the years and this Healey is truly a special one. It is very hard to find an old car that has not been partially disassembled, restored, or otherwise altered. Remember, this Austin-Healey is now 60 years young! Check out the vintage original heater. This is very unique. The control knobs are intact and legible throughout the heater and dash instruments. This is your opportunity to own a very unique Austin-Healey 100-4. This car is perfect for vintage Rally Racing or Pebble Beach, depending on your restoration desires for it.
